I can only hope that his replacements can fill in the hole he has left
Agree. People turned on Woods for obvious reasons and it wouldnt have mattered how well he played.Cleary and Meninga backed him as captain and Pay has stated he is in the frame at the Bulldogs - lost our fans as soon as it became clear he was moving on. All history now.
What I will temper all of this with is the cost. I didn't want Woods to leave, and despite what everyone says he's still one of the best props in the comp.
But if we got Matulino and Packer combined for approx the same cost, then good trade. Same deal with Tedesco if we picked up 3 backs @ $300K, good deal for Tigers. We don't need $1M footballers with this roster, we need a spread of talent and depth.
Agree. If losing Teddy, Moses and Woods meant that we were able to spread the cap more and obtain some depth I am satisfied with the outcome. Having these high paid players did nothing to help us secure finals berths. I suppose we will all know whether it paid off come the first week of September in 2018.
Like JT these 4 players should have taken WT to the finals.
