I remember watching John Dorahy go around for the maggies…...I thought he was pretty good. Gary Jack was awesome. But agree Slater is probably the best I've seen.

One difference???
Everythings different col. Not that it means a thing.
The boots, the grounds, the clothing, the training…Slater is the best
@king sirro said:If i had the choice as a coach between Lockyer in his prime at fullback or Slater, id pick Lockyer. Bigger the game, the more he steps up and that just gives him the edge IMO
@Teddy said:Never saw Lockyer at fullback but the old man raves about him being the best.
How many years did he play fullback ?
@Goose said:Locky was great at fullback.
IMO Billy's energy around the ball and support play, as well as how often he takes the ball on the full makes him the best for me. Locky was clearly better as a ball playing fullback.
I guess the moral of the story is I'd find room for either in my team

Locky was a great fullback but even better five eight
@GNR4LIFE said:Slater is a freak. He's revolutionized the way fb's play. The amount of work he does off the ball to constantly get himself into the right position at the right time is mind blowing

Actually it was Clive Churchill that did that.
@tigerbenji said:Should never compare players from the past as they were not professional players like to-day, but i am sure Churchill & other great players from the past would of been just as great as to-days players if they had the chance to train full time like the players do today.
