Nothings changed in the sense we're still a basket case. JT has made changes, but he doesn't run the club. The front office is still a rabble.

I disagree. There's changes happening from the top down. Our new board is quietly working behind the scenes to improve and make us a profesional, financially stable and competitive club. Our new coaching staff are all profesional and dedicated to improving the WestsTigers. JT has made changes and will continue to do so as needed. He has a wonderful footy brain and is not a fool. He knows what needs to be done and is working towards it. It won't happen overnight, it will take some time. Be patient and enjoy the ride.

Only 101 days to kick off !!

Our forwards were no better in 05

Skando, Laffranchi, Galea, Payton, O'Neill, Gibbs Fulton and Halatau (who was in the form of his life). There was a massive amount of greater experience in that pack.

C'mon lets not get lazy with our research GNR.

At the start of 2005 this was our forward group, with games played until end of 2004 in brackets:
Hammer Halatau (31)
LaStallion (55)
Fults (4)
Gibbs (19)
Farah (7)
Skando (159)
Buckets (207)
Payten (125)
Benny G (82)
Heighington (17)
Cashmere (1)
Bronson Harrison (12)
Matt Jobson (26)
at an average of **57.3**.

Comparative to forwards at start of 2015:
Ava (40)
Sue (35)
Lodge (4)
Taupau (45)
Akauola (11)
Curtis (38)
Woodsie (85)
Farah (221)
Galloway (188)
Buchanan (38)
Hammer (204)
at an average of **82.6**.

Even if you take out the few lowest guys in 2005 - Fults / Farah / Cashmere - the average only goes up to 73.

And even if you add a few near-debutants that might get a run eventually in 2015, it still works out to be at least equal in overall experience to 2005.

Cmon jirskyr mate….actual FACTS never work around here...good God man!!!!!!

You can not compare era to era, the game now is completely different to 2005, a small mobile pack is a thing of the past, its now a power game built around size , speed and great defensive structures

We still aren't that big

Most sides would have a 115 kg monster if not more barring maybe the Saints

Yes Happy…of course that 3kg extra monster makes all the difference... :unamused:

Just had a squiz at the Rorters and Souff's (and I feel dirty).. apart from the two Burgi we stack up well...

What about the Dogs They would easily be the biggest pack and our pack lacks the mobility with our big guys apart from Taupau

When you combine the lack of speed and size differential it does make a difference

As Gus says (and its one of my favourite Gus sayings ) ,"Speed is Power"

Only Klemmer and Williams are bigger than our blokes comparatively..I also seem to remember matching both Souff's and the Dogs last year…

The pack that faces Souths in 2015 will be worlds apart from the 2014 pack

No Thompson ,Blair ,Fulton ,Gavet

Exactly happy. Without those plodders our pack might really get up and dominate our rivals even more this year.

(Fulton get's excused from being a plodder)

Hasn't anyone ever told you, Geo that it's not about the size?

Seriously though, size really does mean nothing if the heart and mental toughness aren't there. A guy could be a 112kg, 195cm giant and have the impact of a tontine pillow - just look at Galloway!

Galloway for me isn't about metres and line breaks. He takes the rubbish hit ups that have to be taken when there's nothing on. First tackle off the restart and the big red fellah goes hard into the line and gets axed by three defenders. There's no chance of a break, no metres to be made, but those three blokes just had to make another tackle, and maybe we can build some momentum. Maybe. Keith puts his hand up for those every time.

Has the slowest play the ball in the NRL, just what you need, a slow kick off return followed up by a slow p[lay the ball. You end destroying any chance of any momentum in that set. KG is solid and still worthy of a place in the 17, but each year he starts to plod a little more

What makes you say that though ?

We've changed our gear supplier, we have Jerseys and gear on time before Christmas now, we have a new highly credentialed board, we're now moving away from wests vs balmain as a result, our membership staff have improved out of sight, we're using some innovative methods in our memebership drives and we look to be a more professional unit in most facets.

The only downfalls since the new board took over have been Anasta's accusations which are more than likely third party related (hence have nothing to do with the club) and our recruitment (which is apaprently all apart of a strategy and long term plan).

What other evidence since this season finished do you have to suggest "the front office is a rabble" ?

I tend to disagree with you and see us becoming more professional off-field. Hopefuly more professional onfield performaces follow..

Agree Tony33.Great post and your being too negative on this one GNR.

I see what you're saying Cosimo, but I would like to see Galloway use his big frame to put fear into the opposition, hit the line hard, break it occasionally and make some decent metres! He has the same physique as George and Tom Burgess (albeit he is a bit older), I would just like him to use it more like they do. He has the look of a big savage bugger, who could scare the crap out of the opposition if he really went for it, but he never does - it's bloody frustrating! As Supercoach said, he just seems plod along in slow mo, getting slower with passing each year.

There's no denying Keith would be a lot more effective with a quicker play the ball and a bit more line speed, but I wouldn't say he was as effective as a tontine pillow either. He takes three down with him every time, albeit slowly. I don't think anyone enjoys giving away a repeat set, and then having to tackle galloway again. The big red glacier would sap the fight right out of you.

Hopefully JT can get some better ruck speed out of the big man.
