Looks like the widespread assumption on here that AD will be 5/8 is correct, a pity he can't start there game 1.

Yeah, though on the flip side I am interested to see who Maguire is looking to fill the six with to start the year and probably backup half with Walters out as well.

I would guess Madden gets handed his debut. Poor bugger is gonna be up against the monster pack of Canberra ?

Yeah, I still think we are a bit short at 5/8th heading into the season.

We’ve got two backup halves, that should be fine. I’d argue we need a backup fullback more than a backup half, we’ve got 0 depth at fullback without having to move Doueihi from half.

Across the starter and the backups we have a handful of games experience, our starting 5/8th is still yet to prove he is a 5/8th, one of our backups is yet to prove he is an NRL player and the other is a 27 year old player with a handful of games who has done ACL. That is not reassuring, and yes we need a more at fullback aswell. Hopefully we can find a player that can cover both.

Kids have to start somewhere, and normally that’s being depth for injuries. Billy has shown he’s a solid player too. As for fullback we literally have no one

[Bloke In A Bar - Adam Doueihi](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jWZNw0GUEY4)

Key points from the podcast:
- Played union as a kid. Went to a school which played division 3. Made the Australian school boys team.
- Played 5/8 at every level growing up (even in union) until first grade.
- Played SG Ball here. Papenhuyzen and Suli were the stars back then. He wasn't one of the key players.
- Was a Tigers fan as a kid.
- He became a fullback almost by chance. He didn't have a position coming into first grade. He filled in a bunch of spots. A great game at fullback one time for Souths made people think it was his spot.
- Admitted he lacked speed from fullback which the team needed. Was disappointed in himself in that aspect.
- Is looking forward to playing 5/8 in 2021.

I was really impressed with the way he spoke. He's obviously a fair dinkum bloke and obviously loves Wests Tigers.
He dropped the F bomb a few times but that didn't offend as he didn't highlight those words.
The other guy though....what a jerk.
He's seems to be intelligent and articulate, so why does he need to swear so often?
A very nice and decent young couple I knew a few years back thought nothing of swearing in front of their young children....why do that?

DOUEHI will DO IT

I agree fullback depth is very weak. I’m hoping Momo and AJ are doing some fullback training during preseason. I feel like we have enough depth in the halves with madden and Walters. Talau could be a Smokey for round 1 with Adam suspended.

Local junior.... Didn't we get. Him from. South's?

Lost him initially

Yes and I don't think its coincidence that the man that got him over to souths is the same man that brought hik back here. Good to hear him talk about coming back to the club that he was a fan of growing up but what really stood out was that he was dissapointed with his season and expects to do better individually and as a team

Yep he knows he lacks pace that a fullback needs he especially lacks a turn of foot, imo your 6 also needs a bit of that turn of foot.

I agree and I don't necessarily think speed was his problem at fullback he seemed to stop as soon as he got to the defenders when returning kicks maybe to try and get a quick play the ball. He was 100 times better when he was playing up in the line imo

I'd argue he was quicker and more agile than AD, and had a turn of foot which AD doesn't have, and better footwork

Wests Tigers stars back Adam Doueihi to shine at five-eighth
Adam Doueihi is inexperienced at five-eighth at the NRL level, but his Wests Tigers teammates believe he is the man to ignite the Tigers’ attack.

Matt Logue
NCA NewsWire
MARCH 17, 20217:06PM

Adam Doueihi is considered a novice five-eighth at NRL level, but his Wests Tigers teammates believe he is the man to ignite the Tigers’ attack and help the club make the finals following a nine-year absence.

Tigers stars have backed Adam Doueihi’s shift from fullback to five-eighth despite his lack of NRL experience in the No.6 jumper.

After missing the opening round loss to Canberra due to a shoulder charge suspension, Doueihi will play his first game of 2021 against the Sydney Roosters at Campbelltown Stadium on Sunday.

The former South Sydney outside back excelled at fullback in his maiden season at the Tigers last year, but coach Michael Maguire has moved him to five-eighth in a bid to spark the team’s attack.

Doueihi has only played brief stints in the halves at the NRL level, but Tigers halfback Luke Brooks believes the Strathfield junior is ready to make the No.6 his own in his first career start in the position.

“He grew up playing five-eighth, so it is something that he is used to,” Brooks said about Doueihi taking on the six jumper full-time this season.

“I think that is his natural position and he is a big body in defence, so that is something that he won’t struggle with.

“It is a big boost having Adam back.

“It will be good because that is how we trained all pre-season and he just adds that extra spark to our attack.

“He is a great ball player, and he will help us with our football.”

Tigers winger David Nofoaluma has seen Doueihi excel at five-eighth in pre-season training, so he has no doubts he can succeed in the position.

“His role within the team is very demanding, but he knows what he wants on the field, so it is good to have that and I’m looking forward to having him back,” Nofoaluma said.

“He can definitely ball play and run, so I think because he has had that whole pre-season of training, he is comfortable in that position.

“I’m looking forward to seeing him play in that position this year and owning it. I’m excited for that.

“He is definitely a great addition to be in the team.

“James (Roberts) and I trained with him all pre-season, so we have a lot of combinations working together.”

Meanwhile, Brooks will celebrate his 150th NRL game for the Tigers against the Roosters on Sunday.

“I’m very honoured to play 150 games for the club,” he said.

“I guess you don’t really think about the individual milestones when you are playing or plan for those, but it is nice when it comes along.

“To do it playing at one of our home grounds is a good one and it is our first game at Campbelltown with fans for a long time, so hopefully a few of our members get out there.”

He looked extremely confident when interviewed on the news tonight.
They interviewed Brooks about him reaching 150 games just before him and the difference was like chalk and cheese.
Brooks was his usual shy self saying it’s about time he owned the team.
Douehi came straight out and said he is looking forward to taking control and making his mark.

Big fan of Adam. Great runner of the footy, shown some really nice passing and a good spiral bomb. If he can develop a nice short kicking game and sure his defence up too he will be the whole package. Really excited to see how he goes this year

Blah blah blah

Good footballer though. Much stronger in the carry than Mbye, so he's a threat with the ball alone, let alone moving it about.

Really impressed with Doueihi’s attitude. If anyone is going to lead the backline around it will be Doueihi.
