Adam Doueihi #227

🤔 I wonder if AD rubs olive oil or something on his body because of the way he just bounces off defenders They can't seem to hold on to him he just slips through them after they grab him like he's an elastic band or sumfin
🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣🤪🤣🤪

There's a bit of reality needed for both the pro & con Doueihi'ists.

His defence is not great.
His attack is great.

We cannot score points.
Doueihi offers the ability to score points we previously lacked.

If he isn't the complete package, but is our best wide attacking weapon- how much does top-tier defence matter?

If he is 'passable' but has solid defenders either side of him- can his short comings be masked by the advantages he offers?

I'm an unabashed Doueihi supporter & have been since I found out he was coming to the club. His lack of victories, while a fun stat, doesn't single him out as the lone ranger in responsibility.

It is no surprise to me that once we had some big mobile bodies out wide, we start being able to produce sweeping attacking movements. This isn't even taking into consideration the upgrade in kick pressures out wide.

Doueihi might even make Charlie Staines a viable option out wide.

If u Watch the game again like I did u will notice that when they scored most their points down Doueihi side. They used his side by making him make a decision which he chose the wrong one more than once. Now I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt as it’s his first time playing in a while, but he has form in bad defence. Trust me the cocks will testing him out big time, so I hope he gets his shite together.
You mean for the period we only had 13 players on?

12 players yes! But that was a forward and not a back. That’s where Doueihi was owned like he has in the past, not making the right decisions.
I agree he made two poor decisions. The first was a bit of a horror but in the second, I think Weekes deserves some credit as it was a pretty good move - if it was reversed, we’d be singing Douiehi’s praises for his guile.

One area in defence that AD does deserve some recognition is his contact. I think was some legitimate criticism prior to his injury on his desire in this area. Having watched him in both Cup and firsts - I have noted a definite improvement in this area.

And of course if Douiehi came in to tackle Weekes who then offloaded to the centre AD would have been bagged for not staying on his man.

Galvin was just a bit slow coming across

Did anyone else hear that his speed has improved since the 3rd surgery? I thought there was a comment around that post-match.

If so, that's incredible. He's mentioned that the knee feels much better this time around.
Didn't hear it but it is not uncommon. Good intensive rehab develops a lot of the smaller stabilising muscles in the legs that also assist with running.

First of all, one of the best comebacks I've seen in our colours and quite emotional too.

Surprised me with his speed.

However, knowing his track record, it all means nothing if he doesn't back it up. He's got a contract now, I don't care if he doesn't break tackles or score length of the field tries. Needs to be switched on for 80 minutes because seems like he's well respected amongst the players. Needs to lead by example.

Adam played well on Sunday and I hope he can keep up the consistency in future games .....but that has been his problem career wise ......huge gap between his best and worst games

ill back Snidest0 on this one.
What the entire team has a good game. Adam D comes back, an ok has a good game.
... first win since 2022!

Now if AD backs this up with some solid games going forward. Sure, ill admit I am wrong and we can keep him.

But were talking a player who has been "the next big thing" for several years. Kinda never really getting there. ...

If AD can own Center, sure he can stay. But we better see that performance week in week out!
Thats a reasonable position. General consensus which matches my opinion is that he is a centre who needs to work on the effort areas in defence but who could possible offer some serious impact missing in the outside backs. My comment was more toward the vitriol that fella argues with, particularly after what was objectively a feel good story. black and white not a whole lot of grey.

So he says in that radio interview that he is on more than the minimum.. so can we put to bed that he is only costing $150k… we don’t know how much he is on as he doesn’t have an agent to leak it
He is on more than the minimum this year, Don’t know about next year .

My thought exactly.
Defence has always been his only drawback in my eyes. He really needs to work on that, his attack comes naturally he doesn't need to do anything there, it will get even better with game time & the quality of the team mates he plays off.

Really, really want AD to work at centre for us.

Today was great, minus what some have already pointed out in D - but that can be fixed.

I love his attitude, and he's a big body who's awkward to tackle. His bombs are a nice extra weapon for us too.

Looks like he has gained a bit of pace.
I haven't seen bombs like that from the WT since Patty Richards was putting them up.

Having Adam at centre gives us so many kicking options.
