If I could steal one thing from AFL it would be Richmond's team song for us

Traditional team songs, jerseys that stay the same - AFL get it right. Respecting history builds culture and leads to advocacy. That’s partly why 50000+ become members of every club. History, tradition - solid foundations.

Richmond and Collingwood push 100 000 members

How do we replicate that?

Jerseys are easy. Games at Cambo and Leichhardt are traditional with a crest change and added badge on the arm.

Neutral grounds are new wave jerseys, with a throwback.

What’s our team song again.....

Super discounts for cambo ore Leichhardt only members to go to the other ground

Probably stop shafting the few legends we have so we create some history.

$100 jerseys for members or a signature on every jersey for under 16’s

Perhaps forget the speak to no one mantra of the media department. Would be great to hear positions we are chasing from the club

They are mostly mcg members. Something about a home ground comes to mind. I’ve seen Richmond home games as a friend of a top member. It’s a next level game day

And no rinky dink 80s grounds

Well I’ll cry when the Leichhardt tradition dies but yes - I think you’re right

Me too mate

Hate AFL but I had to watch it and cheer on some Tigers. We need to emulate the success story that these guys have been over the next few years.

Richmond looked completely out of it at halftime but they've got some fighting spirit and refused to panic - something our mob could learn a lot from.

Lol he’s spot on. Idk what they were thinking shortening the quarters, but it really went a long way in making the game matter a lot less this year.

I just came in here to say I don't care about AFL and I question if it has any place on a rugby league forum. That is all. Didn't even know who was in the GF until I saw it in the paper this morning.

Second rate

Yeah I get that. I was sad to see Wests move from Lidcombe and sad with the realisation we had to merge but the alternative wasn't pretty.
I feel/ fear we are heading down a familiar path

First game I've watched in aong long time an even then saw about half... But you're right whatever the Tigers coach said at h/t had the right affect.

Gotta ask is Ablett sick he looks like he's got leukaemia or something

For me it’s the same as watching the tennis netball or cricket. Not really my thing but when it’s close you see the competitive nature of players and their abilities which I find interesting

This sums it up for me too. Was the only game of AFL I watched all year. i missed the bulk of the first half but the second half was tight and made for a good contest (even though the game itself is like a fumble-a-thon).

Tigers winning a premiership makes it sort of worthwhile.

Richmond in the 90s and early 2000s were very much like Wests Tigers in the last few years. There we jokes about them always finishing 9th, the club was a mess from the boardroom down. They sat down and set some very ambitious targets to improve and although they started slow they ticked the main boxes on the 10 year plan and have created one of the greatest AFL teams. That’s what we need to emulate.

I watched the g/f with extended family and went with the flow - lucky these were Tigers fans. Enjoyable, competitive, certainly passionate (their knowledge of the players and rules helped) - all up pretty good fun.
But it wasn't Wests Tigers.

It will be, one day😃

Back in the 90's their coaching position was a revolving door. Their board spent more time arguing and fighting amongst themselves than driving the club forward.
