I like the fact Nof goes in search of the ball and takes some pressure off the forwards, ***hope Jimmy Jet starts to do the same.***
Maybe he's shy, and being the new kid, doesn't want to throw his weight around yet.
One way or another, Madge has to start looking at plays to get him more involved, the earlier in a game the better.

I disagree with you on this one. For mine, that is not JTJ's game. Of course he can and will do a dirty run where needed but that is not his strength. You can tell JTJ, knows his game inside out and he gets himself in perfect position about 5-10m behind the line and slightly outside his opposite centres shoulder. THat we he hits the defence at speed and his opposite has to commit to a side. JTJ knows what works for him, its a matter of giving him what he wants/needs. We did twice yesterday and he looked dangerous immediately.

Fair enough, I'm not as scholarly as others on here and I generally don't comment on things I don't know or have little understanding of ( even though Evil Homer encourages me to say dumb shi... stuff).
That being said, it's probably safe to say we agree that Jimmy needs ball and hopefully the team's more composed from here on in and can follow tailored plays to accommodate the strengths in our side. Surely the coaching staff are working on this stuff.
That aside, with the speed in JtJ and DLoz, would love to see us turn the opposition around with early kicks, keep em guessing, turn the screws, or even better, score Tee-Aah-Why's.

Edit: Yes, I know that spells the singular form.

I think the way Doueihi hit JTJ a couple of times early, miles from the defence indicates the coaching staff are onto it.

I might seem impatient, but we've picked up a serious weapon and I just can't wait to see him set up to be the best he can be.
Madge, give him more!
Douehei, feed the beast!

Brooks sucks..

I know you are being sarcastic but credit where credit is due, Brooks had a pretty good game. Kicking was much better, general play was much better. 1 missed tackle that led to a try. But overall much improved. Though he outplayed Perace.

He missed twice in that Frizell try. He had two bites at stopping that try. He had a great game and didn't suck at all. It's just those frustrating shirt grabs on big men.
It was a crucial point in the game that gave them the lead. That's why it sticks out so badly.

I think Lucy needs to look at what he was doing in that play. He was just flapping around doing nothing. At least Brooks was doing something

I just went back and looked at the play again. Lucy wasn't in the line because he was at 2nd marker from the previous tackle. The defence didn't slide or whatever to cover that.
Brooks should have went for the legs, not grabbing shirt on the first tackle. The Frizell tackle was harder yes but stats still say he missed two tackles in one play.

I have offered my opinion on the game generally in another thread, however I wanted to offer something on Liddle. I didn't think he played that well against the Knights. He seemed to have had trouble making some tackles at times and his service was slow and often not out in front of runners- there was certainly timing issues with his passing and the guys receiving. Also he is not looking so spritely out of dh at the moment, nor is he making enough probing runs.
I would like to see Mbye at centre, Jake S at 14, Talau on wing instead of AJ. At the moment I think these changes would definitely improve our side.

a lot of work to still be done defensively, but we were better. thought our fifth tackle options midway in the second half before we imploded were far better. high and deep into the corners and make them work it out of their own end. our forward pack were far better than theirs and the bench rotation with Joffa coming off the bench was excellent.

Doueihi and Brooks much better this week, worry about Luch defensively. hopefully Gebbie is fast tracked because we are in dire need of a consistent left winger.

Doueihi is running the show now - much more capable than Brooks (who doesn’t have enough between the ears to run the show). I like the idea of fast tracking Gebbie - he will add that X factor.
I love the jet but he doesn’t seem that interested, definitely not moving up in support close to the line when something could be on .. maybe he’s mentally calculating how much more dosh Brooks is on.

What?

Jimmy also gave him an absolute serve in the first half and Doueihi was smart enough to listen. All of these kinks will take time to work through, but that right edge is going to lethal once the timing clicks. Laurie goes left often probably because it worked so well in that trial but there are going to be some serious opportunities down the right. Jimmy looks to be in very good condition and motivated to play some footy, and Nof is playing with real confidence too. We will test the Eels this week.

Yea , it looked like the coaches had a word to AD , as that was clearer in the second half , to get JTJ the early ball he needs . At the very least it always puts the defence on the back foot and generates a quick play the ball .

Kepeoa out next week. Talau to the wing, Mbye to centre, Simpkin into the 14.

The team will be better all round for it.

Talau is not a winger

I'd feel safer with him running along the touchline catching a pass than I currently do with AJ there

Talau is not a winger

Neither is Mbye. And both would be preferable to Kepeoa.
