Triple M NRL's Matty Johns told Sunday Triple M NRL with Matty Johns a player-agent texted him that if Mick Potter stays on players won't extend deals.

Johns said the message was received during the Wests Tigers mid-season slide after an impressive start to the season.

"I had a player-agent sent me a text that night to remind me 'no he is not doing a good job', players won't extend if Mick Potter stays," the host said on Sunday Triple M NRL with Matty Johns.

The revelation comes off a report the Tigers released during the week which evaluated Potter's coaching performance as he looks to re-sign.
The Wests board has made it clear, if the Tigers do not finish in the Top 8 this season, Potter will not coach the club next year.

Triple M NRL's Gorden Tallis says it is not Mick Potter's job to be liked.

"You're not supposed to like everything that your trainer does or your coach does because he is supposed to challenge you," Tallis said on Sunday Triple M NRL with Matty Johns.

The Broncos legend went on to say if Potter leaves he can't see anyone better to take the club into the future.

"I don't know who can take over and take those blokes to the next level."

Tallis challenged the text message as he said superstars Mitchell Moses, Luke Brooks and James Tedesco penned new deals.

Tedesco even backflipped once signing with the 'Green Machine' to stay at the Wests Tigers.

A few wins and all this rubbish will blow away and a few more wins their will be plenty of player agents wanting to get their clients a gig at Concord.

If Potter can keep the forwards firing,Moses,Brooks,Austen and Simona will do the rest
 
Gordie is right, if all this was true, players wouldn't have already extended their contracts and Teddy would be off to Canberra
 
Hmmmm. i understand a media persons agenda to look like they get inside info…..but on this occasion i feel matty johns is a dog for reporting this. Maybe im being biased, but Johns giving this dog agent the time of day isnt needed.
 
Matty Johns reminds me of a forum user who gets one piece of gossip from another forum and posts it on a difference forum like he's got some inside info or a scoop so people will think he knows whats going on , on the inside.
 
Lol who hasn't extended yet? Ava? Bodene? And teddy?

If any of them said they won't extend if potter is still there- show them the Hume highway.

WATTA loada crap.

I can't imagine farah, woods. Moses, brooks etc having a clause in their contract saying if potter is still there then the contract will be canceled.

Im willing to take a punt here if Johns is telling the truth and say that the text message came from Wayne Beavis. His man, cry baby Trent Barrett, is coaching lower grades at Penrith, almost got the Nth Qld job but missed out to Paul Green and now sees that Potter's job is his best chance right now for 1st grade job. Im guessing Beavis thinks that by sending the text to Johns, he's giving Potter that extra nudge for his man, cry baby Barrett to squeeze in.

No proof of course, only an unsubstantiated guess.
