Aidan Sezer #279

So our organising 7 isn’t going to be an organising 7?

As to the role he plays no idea.

Fainu is an out and out 6
Sullivan as a junior was more a 7 but at the Dragons was basically used as a bench impact middle running player.

If we are focusing on 3yrs investment in Fainu and Sullivan as long term might as well play them in their actual position and fit Sezer around them.

Fulton didn’t hesitate re Fainu being NRL ready in ask the boss nor hesitated when saying he is a 6.

Fainu will still be only 18 when next season kicks off. Don’t hold your breath thinking he will be in the mix come round 1. You won’t see him till the back end of next season at the earliest.

We signed Sezer to buy Fainu time to be ready hence why it’s a 1yr deal.

I would be surprised if at some stage next year we don’t see Fainu in 1sts. He will be 19 in May and same age as a few other halves who have debut that had plenty of talent. He came here to play firsts and have zero doubt he will get a crack sooner than some think, doubt it will be round 1 pending injuries though.

Saw an Interview with Sheens before he or Hastings got back to Aus that said Hastings was bought as a Lock...
Even heard JH Speak on it. (We also played our best Footy with him there)

So were 'these people' wrong back then and right now because it suits you better?
Is that what you're asking me?

Benji also played most of his career here without a 7,
Didn't need one back then, Fair chance he doesn't think we need one now.
Hastings also openly stated he wants to play in the halves... quoted as saying it, whilst at the Tigers.

Benji played his best with a 7, like Prince & then Lui.

Mentioning Pearce, Moses then Sezar... it's clear Benji has been after a 7 for some time.

I reckon if he is available he'll be getting plenty of chances.

You legitimately think we're going into the season with 2 rookies halves?
Yep - Benji's 1st run on appearance was in Round 23 in 2003 (20 years ago OMG) - we won 12 -10 vs Broncos in Brisbane! BTW he was partnered by that 15 game 5/8 experienced legend Daniel Fitzhenry. I can't wait for next year's Round 23.

He could probably play Fullback, Hooker and Lock in that comp and do a job as well....
How is it me "Pushing the narrative"?
All I'm doing is reflecting on his career and what I saw, and telling you how it was.
(You've obviously never looked for yourself)?
All you guys are suddenly claiming he was a 7? - From his own mouth he said he was a 6
(And it wasn't so long ago)

With Benji, Being a dominant 6 - Doesn't make you a 7....
No matter what number you have on your jersey.
Either way - Why mention Benji?
Are you comparing both players - Because you're on a hiding to nothing if you are...
You'd be the only delusional to mention them in the same sentence!!

Plenty of halves have played both, and you can get results with 2 decent 6's and a good 9.
Like we did in 2009-2011.
But that doesn't turn a Cameron Munster into an Adam Reynolds (Type)
Nicho Hynes and Jahrome Hughes are both not Generals - They're 6's (Running Halves) playing in a 7 Jersey
with the team and the game plan moulded around that.

Either way - Sezer came through as a 5/8, Played his first 4 years in the NRL at 5/8 (With no more than a dozen fill in games at 7) And the reverse in 4 years at the Raiders...

And all that ended 4 Years ago...
My thoughts exactly.

Sezer is a 5/8 and played his time at Gold Coast as a 5/8.
Then Ricky brings him in, occasionally as a halfback. Sezer did take the position from Sam Williams and the Raiders did far better then anyone expected.

Ricky uses Halfbacks very very differently to other coaches.

Maybe we push Sullivan straight to NR7 with Sezer taking some kicking load off his shoulders.
