Aidan Sezer #279

You are doomed if you do and doomed if you don’t. I’m sick of this hip drop rule. Very soon players won’t be making tackles for the fear of being penalised any 100 ways
We all support the Tigers, who remembers the tackle when Ice got injured??
What we get for that?
I will not have a go at any of our players for having a go.

Noone wants to see anyone get hurt. Seizer IMHO did absolutely nothing wrong and the injury was a result of playing a contact sport. I know Seizers legs left the ground but my biggest problem is the N.R.L stating that if they are grabbed by the hip region and the defenders body weight falls over the legs then that's a hip drop. A sure sign is if the defender grabs the hips and raises both legs into the air swinging around the legs. Seizer grabbed the player from the upper body and the players ankle got caught under Seizer but it diffrent from a hip drop imo as Seizer was clutching the upper body with no intention to lock the legs underneath but to just try to bring the player down. I thought it was just a contact injury and an unfortunate part of playing a contact sport. Others may disagree cause Seizers legs did come off the ground but for me that's not enough to define something a hip drop. 🤷‍♂️

Gee mate, you are so wrong it isn't funny. Sezer did the exact thing they have been trying to eradicate all year.

You might be right but don't think that Seizer grabbing the player higher shouldn't be considered a hip drop. I'm prob wrong though I thought a hip drop was only when the player was grabbed around the hip region. 🤷‍♂️

Na… it’s a defender losing his feet and landing on the legs…
Sezer didn’t lose his feet though - he through them in the air…
He’s a goner

This is left field stuff, sezers defence is very good but he is not directing play Galvin is doing it .
SO why not put him in as a lock forward and let him do a little ball playing , put young Latua in at 1/2 back , what would we have to lose and it would get the kid game time
That’s what we did before he was in the sin bin.

The hip component of the ruling is when the defender puts their ‘hip’ or middle body weight completely on the attackers lower limbs.

Once your legs come off the ground, you’re a goner

Only if the tackled player stays down.
Bateman should’ve stayed down for Keppie’s tackle. He was off the ground and swinging his legs around as well.

Gray stayed down for ages and then jumped back right up and got involved once the penalty was awarded.

Have no issues with the tackle being penalized but do think we have turned into rewarding diving behavior.

Really wish the game would insist that if a player is down long enough for a review they are off for 5-10mins. It will stop a fair few diving efforts.

And it’s wrong , if you come from the side at speed and hit them side on it’s only natural your body will swing you can’t help it , it’s not deliberate, Sezer should not have got the bin and that little flog got up and played on , players are also doing anything they can to get a free penalty, NRL needs to stand up to this but they are week

Disagree…
Easy to forget we lost Papalii for a month or more for the exact same tackle..,
It’s wrong / and rightly penalised.

Looks like Sezer will have another stint on the sidelines with a second hip drop suspension for the year. I wonder if priors will come into account and make it a second long suspension for him this year???
Well at least Fainu comes in for a stint, or Bud ???!
