Gagia is on huge money they would have to pay atleast half

Yes but that would still free up around $300k-$400k For them to stitch up golden boy.

A question I pose without being narky or sarcastic. If South's have to pay some freight for Johnston or Gagai or both. Should we let spite stop us from picking up a bargain? South's will offload them eventually, some Club will grab these guys on the cheap. Interested in you guys opinion

I'm coming around to that idea as well - i reckon we take both - AJ for 3 years and Gagai for 2. Screw Souths over for some costs and pick both up for around 800k. If Madge can get Gagai back to somewhere near his best it adds pace and a bit of class to the backline. I think our forwards will hold their own against most sides this season. Only concern really will be the no.9.

Agreed... But the club should wait until LM's contract with souffs is signed and sealed.
We'd have all the leverage needed to get the best deal possible considering souffs would be desperate to create some cap space. Wanna see us start paying unders in these types of deals to let the league know our cojones are bigger than most

Was madge a fan of Jennings as well? We don't need a coach getting the band together for old times sake.

That did not work out well with Packer, Matulino etc

Jennings didn’t have a preseason before. He does now.
Few miss that - preseason is extremely important.
Judge him on this season - think we will see him improved.

I would take AJ and DG if the $$ were right.
They are an upgrade on what we have.
In saying that it would be on the provision that JAC wouldn’t be joining. No point having both AJ and JAC in the side.

Our current fullback is much better winger and fullback than Johnson. What a terrible waste of West Tigers of CAP money and Cap space. WEsts tigers have a huge bag of CAP money available and If Wests Tigers sign either or both Johnson and Gagai they will again be certainly seen as the fools' of NRL.

He’s a good winger better than what tigers have.

Wasted a bit on wing I’d aim fullback or centre

That would be great outcome for our backline provide we screw down the $s and get Rabbits to field substantial amount of the deal.

I don’t think we need to spend the dollars - there is a heap of young talent coming through that will fill the void over the next year or so. Save and spend the money where we need it. An average winger /fullback coming to the end of their careers is not going to win us a comp.

He is 24 I reakon there is at least 4 more years of decent footy in him

OK - but still pretty average imo. Souths aren’t real keen to keep him.

I can see an advantage in having two quick wingers instead of our current two slow wingers.

Aj at full fitness is lightening fast and can score from any where on the field and is a great support player witch means every time some 1 makes a half break he will be there it will lead to far more tries

Agree in that we should definitely take those two rejects at a bargain price only and if JAC isn't coming.

I'd be stoked with AJ and JAC though, I don't think AJ will be coming here to play wing. In fact, I'm confident if he does come it will be to play fullback - at least until we realise he's rubbish there and then he gets pushed back to the wing.

Not a huge fan of either AJ or DG, but clearly this is the sort of talent our club can actually get. AJ has speed, but he gets out muscled too easy, doesn't even have the tackle breaking ability of Thompson even.

I don't agree that AJ and Gagai are an upgrade on what we have. I would say they are quicker and flashier, but the only player I would drop for them is Jennings based on prior form.

We need some backs though. They would both make our top team. AJ probably to fullback and Gagai to the centres.

We'd have a much better squad.

I truly worried about where our recruitment for Fullback has gone. I see us making similar mistakes.

We saw with Tedesco how Ryan Pappenheusen went to the Storm because he saw his future blocked.

Then we hired Mbye, a 200K player for a 750K pricetag discounted to 500K. Mbye was never going to be top shelf and was a key reason why the Bulldogs sunk to second last on the table. Seriously don't copy failing teams, the Mbye/Reynolds halves pair was the worst in the NRL... Then people said buy Michael Lichaa?? (*Headbang*). I would almost prefer the Gold coast spine to this*!

Now we seem to have some choice, we get JAC a star winger, AJ and DG looking to come free.
I see that Dane Gagai is 29. He did not do wonders at Newcastle in an under performing team. I had thought pick him for his Origin experience but now I realise that would be a mistake. He is not our future.

JAC and AJ both look good. I see JAC as a top winger but not a top fullback. I see AJ performed better under McGuire but that was with an awesome forward pack setting the pace. Both would upgrade us but I want room for the next Ryan Pappenheusen or Nichol-honstadt to come through.

This pushes me to take JAC because he could be shifted if the next Tedesco enters our ranks.

*No I do not want the Gold coast spine. But the Bulldogs are a team that wins through a tough forward pack. We let Graham go and the players we would want would be Josh Jackson, Aiden Tollman and Klemmer. Instead we signed their playmakers.. *sigh*.

Only 1 person was pushing buying Lichaa and i think they must be a relo or friend of his.

And we enter the season with no established hooker and a bunch of untested makeshift 9s.... Great.

I’d rather go with untested potential than run out a proven numpty like Lichaa
