The POM said Madge met with AJ twice...

Madge has wanted AJ for a while.

Madge is his old coach.

AJ is off contract and thus needs a big year....Souths FB spot is gone and wing spots he is depth only.

Despite all that, he does not want to come.

Again, is it a recruitment issue or simply a ridiculous run of bad luck. We have tried for DWZ..:Moylan....Lomax....Lattrell...AJ....

That is a LOT of fullbacks to try for and fail.

He didn’t say that actually... he said there have only been phone calls that have taken place, no one has met anyone.

Well he said Madge has spoken to him twice. Regardless, obviously Madge wants AJ.

So, why have we have missed out again? That makes five....five!!!...FBs we have targeted and missed. People seem to act like there is no issue.

Ha -@ElleryHanley you should work in the media.
What do you consider is targeting - just so I know how we missed out on them. Contracts offered?

If you want to believe we have not tried to get a FB mate then go ahead and believe it.

DWZ clear
LM clear
Lomax The Pom said was very close...

But go ahead and believe what you want.

So you could say that in the case of Latrell Mitchell the Bulldogs Cowboys and Titans all missed out on him too because they all had more than just a chat.
If it is considered missing out on a player when a discussion is had then all clubs are going to miss out more than they will score. That I believe.

I think your missing Ellery’ point if we make contact or approach a player it
must be that we are interested in them, and we have asked about all the players he has mentioned. But it seems there not interested in us I’m with Ellery on this one

Havnt missed the point at all. All clubs are having conversations with players/managers without securing a contract - often instigated by managers first. To infer there is something wrong with our club because we don't secure a player after a discussion, is hardly unique to our club. How do you know that we were not interested in what the player wanted because we didn't think he was worth it and we lost interest?
If manager’s are instigating contact and we are saying no ok there’s a reason for that ,but when the coach is taking to them and they say no thanks there as to be a reason

So much stuff we are not privy to you can't just put it down to missing out because of the players choosing not to come .Managers know we have money and they know what we need. The last thing we need is another Josh Reynolds signing. Managers work on behalf of players Maguire and Hartigan negotiate on behalf of the club. A discussion about a player may go no further than the manager even before a player gets wind of it.

FWIW

Getting desperate now, How about saving your money for JAC.
Is Madge like Cleary can only sign players he used to coach.
Souths suck savs don't help them out.

Because JAC isn’t coming. Why would he come? Would ruin his rep chances...

Didnt hurt Tedesco, Woods or Matterson when they played for us.

The bunnies have left out AJ from their starting 17. With Doueihi at 14. It may be nothing, but imo AJ is coming.

Where?

Rabbitohs
Star signing Latrell Mitchell has expressed his desire to play fullback which could spell trouble for Alex Johnston. With Braidon Burns returning in the centres, Adam Doueihi is likely to revert to bench utility. With Sam Burgess and John Sutton retired, the likes of Ethan Lowe and Jaydn Su'A are in the frame for starting edge roles. Bayley Sironen, Tom Amone, Mark Nicholls and Kurt Dillon are competing for two bench spots.

Come on...... this is nuts. Some posters are so negative at the moment. Chill fellas. I know everyone has an opinion and a free mind but geez, the sun comes up tomorrow - even for WT supporters.

How delusional to believe that if you go the Tigers you cannot make rep teams. It's not anywhere near that bad.

We may end up with either AJ or Doueihi I would prefer Doueihi he is a local junior but I wonder if the Pom knows where we are headed with these guys

I think AJ would be the best option , rate him on wing... where would thompson go

Penrith apparently

I'd be pretty surprised to see Thompson leave. He's a very handy player who isn't on a lot of money. If we get Doueihi or Johnston you'd think he'd get one of the wing spots.

I wouldn't wanna see him tossed aside. What're the chances of Madge taking a tiny winger/fullback and turning him into a 9? Didn't he do it with Cook?

Thompson's weakest part of his game is his passing, don't think he'd work at 9 at all. He's a winger through and through imo.

Cook was a fullback but had already moved to hooker at Canterbury before starting with Souths.

I have him off the bench as a utility roaming forward type like lil papi this year...recon he’d be great in and around the ruck with his acceleration and step
