He's a good winger and I doubt many would dispute that. He won't be cheap though and I personally would rather we explore a cheaper wing option and spend money in other areas like second row, prop, fullback and centre…

Yeah that's right, there's no doubting he has speed, which we lack, but the fact remains he's a genuine finisher and best suited, and most effective on the wing.

Indeed! Once upon a time, most players were just happy to get a spot in first grade - they couldn't give a bugger what position they played.

Yep I like that backline a lot, though I'm not sold on the idea of the unproven Lolohea being put in such an important position. I don't get all the excitement over him, tbh - he doesn't look like anything special. I would rather Gordon or even Hopoate at fullback for a year or two so we can take the time to find a more viable fullback option in the future. I don't think it's a decision we should rush into and they are both experienced and proven performers, who wouldn't cost the earth, and could temporarily fill the void left by Tedesco, until a better player comes off contract in a year or two. No I haven't stevied, I'm always a bit sus about highlight reels tbh - I mean how far apart really are the good bits? That said, I will check him out :slight_smile:

I agree, highlight video are for mum and dad in a lot of cases. What is left out is asometimes much more important than what is in.
Moses could have a great highlight video,if edited correctly. But do you think he'd include his pathetic tackles or his kicks that went into the grandstand or his tanking game,
 
Great signing if true. Great winger who can cover fullback if Lolohea can't cut it or gets injured. We need depth as we have very few under contract for 2018.

Whether misses tackles or dropped balls are left out doesn't change the fact that he has explosive pace and an unbelievable step, two elements we don't have much of in our team. If you watch the videos, you'll see that he beat some handy defenders in his runs. A freakish talent when fit and in form and worth a punt in my view.
 
Just a thought, if we were after a winger with pace - what about Gideon Gela-Mosby?

He is probably faster than Johnston and he would cost less. I don't think Cowboys would mind if we took him, especialy if the are after Lolohea. Alex Johnston is a great winger though. He has won a grand final and played for Australia.

We have a cheap threequarter line now that's paper thin and slow as a wet week… Every week we bemoan our pathetic defense out wide, I think it's time we stopped overlooking this part of the park

You want to improve our defence out wide so you want to sign… Alex Johnston? Are we talking about the same guy, or are you just advocating that we sign _someone_ - anyone - with first-grade pedigree on the assumption that this means they must be good?
