Alex Twal #206

He seems like a quality bloke. He's certainly a quality footballer.

I wonder if there is some potential for him to move into the backrow in the future. He can play 80 minutes, has a bit of speed and is an excellent defender.

A back row of Maddison, Twal and Eisenhuth looks solid (of course we would need to beef-up our front row stocks first).

players like Twal, Matterson and Aloiai are the kind you can build a successful pack around.

Thought exactly the same thing! Moving in the right direction here.

We should already be looking to extend Twal's contract by another 3 years. Don't wait until next year, he seems happy. Get it done now.

He has lock written all over him... has the motor to play 80mins. When we sign some props he will go to lock.

G'day @Tigerlily : thank you so much for posting this article :relaxed: :relaxed: :relaxed: Positive news like this, along with the guts, determination and out there bravery shown by another one of Our current all-time greats being Chris Lawrence, can only help in starting to create interest and desire in quality players wanting to play for 'Our Wests Tigers'. Enjoy tonight's game everyone!!!:v:

“I’m actually looking to do an internship at the Tigers. It’s been a bit hard with all our away games, but it’s something I’m really serious about.”

Jesus, Alex - don't let the club pay so much as a bus fare or we'll get thrown out of the comp for cap breaches.

It is refreshing to see a player improving himself and keeping himself busy unlike most out there raping / assaulting females .. beating up other individuals and generally being major DH’s glad your part of our club !

Wow! One of your best. So you’re saying MOST NRL players are out there raping/bashing/being DH’s. If you believe this, how do you support the game?

Wests Tigers are pleased to announce that forward Alex Twal has signed a new playing contract with the club.

The new, two-year deal will see Twal remain with Wests Tigers until the end of the 2022 season.

A standout junior representative forward, Twal joined Wests Tigers midway through the 2017 season and quickly made his first-grade debut against the Newcastle Knights in Round 17.

He would go on to play every game for the remainder of the season before making for his international debut for Lebanon at the 2017 Rugby League World Cup.

Starring in the Cedars’ memorable run to the knockout rounds, Twal would further consolidate his spot in Wests Tigers first-grade squad with 21 appearances in 2018 before going one step further in 2019 by featuring in every game during the year.

The 23-year-old recorded career highs in offloads, metres gained and tackles made under Michael Maguire in 2019, and finished as one of the most effective tacklers in the league with a 95.1% tackle efficiency rate.

The Parramatta City Titans junior said he was extremely pleased to re-sign with the club.

“It was a really easy decision for me to re-sign,” Twal said.

“This club gave me my debut and I’m really happy with where the club is going and what direction Michael Maguire has us going in.

"I’m just excited to be a part of it going forward.

“I’m still a long way away from the player I want to be in the NRL but I’m really happy with my progress. This club has helped me so much as a player and a person, and I’m really looking forward to where things go in the next few years.”

Wests Tigers Head Coach Michael Maguire said he was delighted to see Twal remain with the club and said he was excited to see him continue to move forward in the coming years.

“I’m really excited that we’ve been able to secure Alex for another two years,” Maguire said.

“I’ve been thoroughly impressed with the way he grew his game throughout the year, and I have no doubt that his role in this team will only continue to grow in the coming years.

“For a player of his age, Alex has really matured on and off the field and we’re very excited to see him continue his development into a real leader for Wests Tigers.”

Wests Tigers CEO Justin Pascoe said he was very pleased to see Twal re-sign with the club.

“On behalf of all at Wests Tigers, I’d like to extend my congratulations to Alex on this new deal and say how happy we are he is remaining with this club,” Pascoe said.

“Alex has been a big part of Wests Tigers from the moment he joined this club, and there is no doubt that he clearly has a bright future ahead of him. He is a fine young man and will play a key part in this club achieving the success it deserves.”
