Alex Twal #206

8 – Alex Twal
Club: Wentworthville Magpies; 2017 TOTW selections: 4.

14 total runs, 124 total metres, one try-assist, one tackle-break, 40 tackles.
Twal is fast becoming the most consistent member of the Intrust Super Premiership NSW Team of the Week following his fourth consecutive selection in the no.8 position. That came due to another fine showing against the Warriors last weekend – while he didn’t match the running metres of previous weeks, he was superb defensively with 40 tackles.

This kid will be great. Id actually put him at lock. He does big minutes so would be perfect.

8\. matulino
9\. mckillrick
10.packer
11\. mcqueen
12\. ET
13\. Twal

Saentice - I have no idea how good he is but that is good to hear. We need another prop and he sounds good. Personally I'd have Lawrence over McQueen.

Yeah he played 64 minutes the other day so he has a bigmotor. 40 tackles and 125 metres is great in any competition. Hes a definate for our 17.

For those who haven't seen him play or those who are mehhhh'ing this signing… This kid is no joke.

Followed his career closely for a few years and he's one of the best up and coming props in the game.

Think Matt Lodge but much more athletic and gifted.

Another Lebanese player in the team is only gonna be good for us too.

Re: your last sentence. Why?

Hey mate.
I am Lebanese….

Always follow nrl players of Lebanese descent closely.

This is a signing the doggies wish they could have.

Also our last Lebanese player was Robbie. An elite level super star ?

???

Mitch is half Lebo.

I actually thought the Dogs would have been keen to get him for this reason.

Alex Twal vs Wyong

67 mins, 13 runs for 138m, 2 tackle breaks, 44 tackles (0 missed)

Really like the sound of this guy already.
Those are big stats for a young prop so let's hope he can make the transition into the NRL team next season.

If he can produce those figures playing against men in reserves this year, he will be a handful in first next year after a full pre season with us.

Haven't seen this kid play but all the reports indicate he is ready to step up. Hopefully he gets a shot early next year to show us what he's got. Might be a great bench prop to support Packer and Matulino.

Certainly hope so

If he can't dominate against that pack of no hopers then he will be nothing more than a depth signing for next year. Would like to see him up against Tatola or Felise to see who the better option is

Alex Twal vs North Sydney

16 runs for 128m, 46 tackles (2 missed), 2 offloads

I'm excited by the amount of tackles he makes and the amount of metres he's still able to produce. Most can do one but not the other, ISP or wherever.

Averaging 40 tackles a game in unheard of for a Front-Rower so I really hope he can transition this onto the big stage.
I know NSW Cup is a completely different level compared to NRL, but those are some amazing stats.

Great numbers, he won't need to do that in FG, much better to have 8 - 10 quality runs and 15 -20 dominant tackles coming off the bench, as opposed to some of our current mob who call touch and think it counts as a tackle.

Hey if he can produce even close to those numbers in 1sts why not start him at lock? That would free up ET & McQueen to hold down the backrow for the full 80.
