I dont care about how good he could have been we dont need or want behaviour like that from anyone.

Learnt from their mistakes maybe.
Hard stance from there on out.

I hope any potential victim is ok in this circumstance

You're :100: correct @Tiger-ferret re Leopards.

But most people whether male or female can be shown the right and proper way to go about things if they are given the support and education needed to not re-offend, then hopefully thereafter lead a happy and productive life while at the same time not hurting anyone else.
If the offence they committed was serious enough, sure they have to be punished in a way fitting the offence though.

Why is it the clubs responsibility to educate him to lead a happy health life where he doesnt beat up women? Seriously.

Point him in the right direction (maybe the aboriginal groups we are associated with ) but if you throw away the opportunity provided to you, I dont see the clubs responsibility.

What rubbish. The club didnt do this, Allan Fitzgibbon did it. It takes a strong agenda to turn this into a criticism of the club.

Might be in the news soon....

Probably would be already if he was a more well known player.

@Moh knows more than me.

I don't think the club has handled this well. Why is there the need to specifically mention DV in the announcement? Completely unnecessary. Just say he had been released due to an off field matter. Would Souths have said this? No. Even when releasing Roberts they were neutral at worst. Then there's the likes of Scott, Munster, Tetevano and many others who've had things swept under the carpet.

And we've been extremely quick to judge him as guilty. Obviously we don't know the accusations or the proof, but he's apparently been charged. Why not just stand him down until the investigation is complete? Provide him with education.

Did Manly sack Walker?

We're a club trying to recruit indigenous talent, sacking a player immediately after an charge and then distancing ourselves from the player is not the way to go about building trust in the community. Historically indigenous players have had issues with alcohol which has occasionally led to violence. Are we going to sack everyone who commits an offence? Support and education is key and we should have made more of an effort to do this, especially in NAIDOC week. I know the club does group sessions but his much individual support do we provide our players?

Obviously if he's guilty he cops the punishment of the law and the club but it seems we've jumped the gun on this one and lost one of our most promising juniors in the process. As the least desirable club in the league can we afford to take the moral high ground that other clubs don't?

G'day @Tiger5150.
I've sat at my comp for at least an hour trying to put my thoughts in regard to this in a comprehensible way, but just not able to achieve that atm.
So I'll just say basically I agree with you.

Nah got no time for that dont let the door hit you in the arse on the way out fella. I have a daughter and if anyone so much as laid a finger on her they'd get a hell of a flogging.

I don't have a problem with the club's action and stance on this matter whatsoever. He's been charged, therefore a statement of facts has been written which would have been made available to Fitzgibbon's legal rep and most likely the club which would have provided background and led to the decision being taken.
