You're :100: correct @Tiger-ferret re Leopards.

But most people whether male or female can be shown the right and proper way to go about things if they are given the support and education needed to not re-offend, then hopefully thereafter lead a happy and productive life while at the same time not hurting anyone else.
If the offence they committed was serious enough, sure they have to be punished in a way fitting the offence though.

Why is it the clubs responsibility to educate him to lead a happy health life where he doesnt beat up women? Seriously.

Point him in the right direction (maybe the aboriginal groups we are associated with ) but if you throw away the opportunity provided to you, I dont see the clubs responsibility.

It is a reasonable question you ask. Magpies is contemplating his response. My answer is because WTs can.

Do we know they are not? As I stated we have links with at least 2 Aboriginal groups. He was on a train and trial contract and nothing is gauranteed. Can not keep him.

Bit of old school police justice required .....

Mate, can u imagine if this happened?

Disgraceful comment.

It used to happen quite often especially if the bloke being arrested was being an idiot.

Could you imagine the news if it was found out that the police beat an Indigenous man?

I know this makes me a dinosaur but I think if you go after a cop physically whatever happens to you back at the station would be justified.

Disclaimer: My daughter's a cop.

Can't stand blokes who think it is ok to hit a cop and then scream police brutality when they hit their elbows or knees when chucked in a paddy wagon when they are fighting every inch of the way ....

I can't stand anyone that dislikes Police fullstop.

Oh well. I won't lose sleep over him. Disgusting thing he did. Hope the woman is okay.

What exactly is he alleged to have done exactly?

He has been charged with domestic violence and that's all we know.

Obviously anything like this directed towards a female is frowned upon so it shouldn't Matter exactly what he did, he did the wrong thing.

Like Josh Reynolds?

I don't want to speculate.

We saw the video of Josh and that would be considered domestic violence... the verbal stuff.
The rest was dismissed in court I believe... dje to some dishonesty from the woman.

We'll let this one takes it course of action and see how it plays out... or we can just forget about him as he fades into obscurity.

Exactly right but standard management ploy to sack a sqaddy to make a public point.

What rubbish. The club didnt do this, Allan Fitzgibbon did it. It takes a strong agenda to turn this into a criticism of the club.

His girlfriend is keen for a chat about it, if you're interested....

It's badder than initially expected.
Discord exclusive.

I don't disagree with what you have written. I feel badly for men and women who resolve their differences through violence for the reason they simply know no better. Education may help which will prevent others, especially women, from experiencing this type of behaviour.

An ex in law of mine (female) has an AVO - domestic violence against her because she hit me in an unprovoked assault. A court date awaits. She is not the only female in her family who has behaved in this manner My big sister said to me they hit you because they know you will not hit them back.

I remember years ago a girl hitting some guy or pushing him and he socked her back. Violence is never the answer but we gotta get it out of our culture. I'm okay in relation to sporting events like boxing or MMA but the way we think it's okay on the footy field for instance to me isn't on. You can't use violence to resolve issues.

Girls hitting men and men responding by returning serve to me is abhorrent in so many ways.

I had a girl I was dating ...it was a long story ...but she decdied to kick me in the knee I'd had some minor surgery on because I went to get my favourite pair of jeans I had accidently left in the dressing room after the game when I hurt my knee ....

And as much as every part of me wanted to do something ...you walk away ...get your stuff .....more fish in the ocean ...some that won't hit you ....

Let's move on he was a lower grade player on a train and trial contract.Let the authorities work it.There a more depressing matters to deal with being a WT'S supporter.

A big factor in a lot of DV occours through to much booze or drugs that people cant handle...both combined always ends badly....this is the area that should be addressed and education should start at a very early age...
I never make excuses for violence at anytime, through my work over many years,I have seen appalling behavior from both sexes, all were because the people couldnt handle their grog and top it off with some drugs leads to the watch house...
When you go about your work as I was on a particular night at the Hotel I was working in and a guy walks in with a rifle looking for his missus because she was shagging another bloke...how should I deal with that..he was in a horrible state and she was caught out ...he was hellbent on revenge, thank God she wasnt in the place or was the other bloke,I managed to convince him to give me the gun while someone rang the Police he was taken away and charged...
So my question is,what causes DV,women being unfaithful or vice versa, financial pain, jealousy, bad temper or just losing your cool over nothing...
DV is an escalating problem in our society ....the sooner it is dealt with in a more expansive educational way the better...

So I'll just say basically I agree with you.

I do agree too @MAGPIES1963, but it is true and unfortunate that even when these players (**youth**) receive so much support and care, some of them are still very vulnerable and are able fall into serious trouble, my point here is this, support from their place of work will never be enough.
**family** support should never be complacent, this means their mums and dads, their aunties, uncles, grandparents, must always engage with them and show them their love and care. This i believe is the best support a youth can get.

Any woman who does that @cochise is just as bad as any bloke hitting a woman.
Plus, they leave themselves open to spur of the moment un-thinking retaliation.
Also they could be trying to provoke the bloke into retaliation then run to the Police with a black eye saying they have been assaulted.

In my youngers years I probably said some things that I shouldn't have, so no real problems from me on the couple of slaps I received. Taught me some much needed lessons about how to treat people. Dad gave me a couple of hidings that taught me some good lessons as well.

medicare provides free sessions. Our club should run unless you think we should support DV?

Education is the key. Sessions run by the club I believe is a great initiative especially when the NRL promotes the involvement of women in rugby league.

Whilst I appreciate your empathy, I will never understand why anyone should require education on exactly why it's not ok to hit a woman.

I have witnessed a woman verbally assaulting her partner on many occasions @pawsandclaws1, with no retaliation as in your case.
When the person being assaulted has mentioned the assaults to non family members, that person wasn't believed..."oh she wouldn't do that as she is such a lovely person".
Result....the person copping the abuse has been shunned by neighbors etc.
It must be so hard for some footballers, being strong physically and having to act on the playing field without thinking and being naturally aggressive I guess, to not retaliate in the face of verbal aggression.
And maybe that's what pushed Allan Fitzgibbon over the edge to unfortunately do what he is accused of.

Something that makes my blood boil @Earl is movies that show a woman slapping a bloke across the face
and of course he doesn't retaliate.
I wonder how many wacky women on seeing that then think it's ok for them to do that?

I copped a couple of good slaps in my time.

Yes, I remember you saying Cochise in another post how you had been treated by your father...not good!
My family lived in a semi attached home when I was a kid, and I could hear the kid next door screaming when he was being belted by his father with a strap, the same as you were.
Absolute animals any parent that treats their kid that way, and I still feel hatred for school teachers that caned some kids excessively when I was at school 60 years ago.

No, my Dad is a great man and the person I respect most in this world. He did give me a good clip one day when I called him probably the worst word in our vocab that I can not write here or I would have to delete my own post. I was acting all tough and grown up, at 16 when in front of my mates I called him something I never should have. He did put a quick light tap on my chin when I said it, I turned and ran because my dad wasn't a guy anyone messed around with.

I'm actually glad he did it, I learnt that that is not a word that I use that day. I have never really used the word again since, I also learnt that if I wanted to pretend to be a man or be seen as a man than I had to accept the consequences of my actions.
