Allan Fitzgibbon

Speed is not everything.

Most of this forum seems to have a fetish for anyone that is fast.

I recall similar comments being made about JAC when he was at WTs. I can't recall the last time we've had any winger approaching decent speed on our wing, Kepaoa not included.

So who goes to wing in nofo or aj injured

If Kepoa is injured Moses MBye should replace him on the left wing. Simpkin to replace MBye in the 14 -17.

Allan has had an initial shot at getting a spot this preseason and failed to show enough, though I hope that he becomes an option with pace and he still has the opportunity to prove that he deserves it.

Most don't make it, so the odds are not favourable.

JAC was a standout when he was here (and the previous year at the Sharks), and overwhelmingly the forum couldn't understand why he wasn't our first choice winger.

We are crying out for a good left winger who can catch as well as run. I hope it's Fitzgibbon but so far I can see why Panthers let him go to rugby. Gebbie is coming but given he hasn't been playing footy he's going to be very rusty.

jac was scoring tries for fun in the lower grades and had a decent all round game but was mostly attack. Fitzgibbon played a handful of ron massey games, how many jump from massey to NRL just like that? He's got a lot of work to do on the effort plays but if he works hard he could make it.

Probably because most of us have little confidence when we make a break down
the left wing that it will turn into points.

No good finishing off a break if you concede more tries through bad defence or dropping a bomb.

There is also turn and chase a kick in defense too.
I get what you're saying tho.....I'm not suggesting fitzgibbon is ready or the answer yet
because he's fast.Have a hope though.
Some just see similar attributes to what we saw in Addo-Carr when he was with us.
Aside TNT,lote and Patty I can't really remember any other left winger we've
had that I've had confidence in after a break made.I wouldn't put them in the
lightning category.

Johnstone would have been great for us IMO, it's a shame we were so focused on JAC.

Were we prepared to offer AJ more than we did though? From our side it sounded like we made a low offer but one that was all we were willing to pay.

Excellent question and I hope someone has an excellent answer.

Hope the answer is someone who is a specialist winger with some pace.

. . . and a ton of first grade experience. And good under the high ball. Good defensively. Be nice if he can chip and chase. Must have pace.
We should have 3 or 4 blokes in the reggies that tick all these boxes.

The upside is we have depth and choice. Gebbie will work hard. His biggest challenge will be the adjustment to life in Sydney. Let's hope it goes well because he can play. Fitzgibbon needs to work hard and I hope he can improve as he has the talent.

Panthers didn’t let him go to rugby.
Panthers played him in 2019 in a couple of NSW cup games whilst he was a regular Ron Massey cup player for St Mary’s.
He came from Rugby 7’s initially. This is according to his hudl Bio.

My best guess is Tommy T? But Fitzgibbon has a wonderful opportunity presented to him. The unanswered question is..how much does he value it? What price is he willing to pay to become an established NRL winger?

Think we are a winger short

He's a project player. Hopefully it works for us but right now it's a waiting game.

Yeah, at least a year away, possibly longer.

Problem is we need a left winger now.

What was wrong with Corey Thompson?

He wanted to go back to Gold Coast, but he's better than what we have now.

Is he a QLD boy? He played for the Dogs before us. Yeah, I rated him. He plays consistent football you know what you're going to get with him.
