Rumours going around that the Organized Crime squad are investigating match fixing with the strong suggestion being last Monday nights match between Parra and Newcastle and a massive $80 000 bet on the Knights to cover the points start.
Parra's season from hell might just be about to get a damn sight crappier??? :righton:

Yeah, but who knows in reality, fortune down the drain on Parra.thou.,every expert who could type said the early 8.5,and later 10.5, start wasn't enough and Parra. was a sure bet,a sure sucker bet more like it.
On the news this Morning its a couple of Manly games from last year that are being investigated so it looks like some new Info. has been obtained.

I hate to be one to draw a long bow and Im hoping this is all co-incidence.

But last year Manly involved on the losing side of 2 games in question, followed by Parra this year in the points shave.

The big bets reported last week, if all true, it doesnt look good. All very circumstantial and I hope Im wrong he is one of my favourite players.

It was also claimed that the bet was from his account but not by him. Which is a little strange.
Also I was reading the old media reports of one of the suspect games last year v souths. The media reports were only about suspect ref decisions. That would make my year if the refs were found to be involved.

But that's what is being claimed in regards to the $75 k bet made straight after he left rehab as well

There has been allegations and rumours going on for decades about match fixing, but nothing much has ever stuck except Ryan Tandy and a bloke who played for Balmain in the 60's. You would have to think it goes on from time to time, greed can do funny things to people

They are fairly certain about a match between the Cowboys and Rooster in the final round of a season, given the half time plunge and result of the game, but could not identify the culprits.

Any match-fixers will get life bans: Greenberg

June 02, 2016: NRL CEO Todd Greenberg today fronted the media to reaffirm the league's commitment to protecting the game's integrity.

NRL boss Todd Greenberg has promised to ban for life anyone found guilty of match-fixing.

The game was on Thursday thrown into turmoil when NSW Police confirmed they were probing allegations of match-fixing. And Greenberg said the game's administrators would come down with their full weight on anyone found guilty of conspiring to fix the outcome of a game.

"This is a threat which exists for all sport in this country and globally," Greenberg said. "The response from the NRL will be very clear. If any allegations are proven, then we will ban anyone found guilty, for life."

Police are reportedly probing two 2015 games involving Manly - their round 16 20-8 loss to South Sydney and their round 24 20-16 defeat against Parramatta.

Greenberg said he had not been aware of any specific allegations and the police investigation was in its early stage. He said airing any preliminary allegations ran the risk of casting a pall over innocent people. "There is no specific allegation yet, no charges, no formal investigation by police and we should be careful not to jump to conclusions," Greenberg said.

bloody mongs.

I bet nothing will come of this. The NRL are a weak organisation, we've seen it time and time again.

I bet something DOES come of this…

Considering at this stage it is only an investigation I would have thought the police and the NRL would have kept it hush hush, because a lot of damage could be done to the NRL,a few clubs and the odd player just on rumour and pub talk, mud tends to stick when enough is thrown around even if it is un justified.

I know the NRL is a very resilient brand name, but eventually it will take a hit that will be hard to get off the canvas

Lets not have trial by media it happens all to often in our society and it is not a good thing! This is very serious and a custodial sentence if proven is on the cards forget what the NRL do!

Do we all really think this has not happened already over the years since the NRL sold its sole to betting agencies ..I hate the glorification of gambling it is a curse!
