Alledged match fixing

interestingly there are only 13 players involved in both games.
Bringing the odds down on which 6 players quite a bit….

and 1 is playing with us now 😕

I call BS though it involved 6 players… That much scope would be very hard to contain, even from the Club!

Hate to disagree mate - But it hasn't been contained.
And god knows how long the cops have been onto it.

Please remember this is an on-going Police investigation ..Refrain from posting gossip and hearsay…

Thank you...

Sports bets accounts are where crims hide their money. Someone was telling me they read some book on NSW prisons and one of the guards asked a prisoner as he was due for release ,what he was going to do? He said buy a Ferrari and show the guard his Sport Tab account. With hundreds of thousands of dollars in it, from selling drugs.

Well he might as well leave his toothbrush there if that's true. Pretty easy to get a copy of the transactions for a Sports betting account. Under the POCA these days it's up to him to prove he acquired the assets legitimately.

Yoss it has always been one of the ways crims laundered there money

Not with the smart ones. I've done enough POCAs in my time to know that's a dumb way to "launder" money. The whole point is to conceal the original source. If you can see the deposits it's not very efficient. Maybe back in the days of proper bookies with dubious oversight it was a goer. These days it would be dopey.

It will be extremely difficult to prove anything - unless they have phone calls, texts or some communication between perpertrators, players etc.

Usually when Police release a press Statement like that its to flush people out with Text/Calls ,they normally keep any investigation as low key as possible until its time to charge/arrest.
They have software that will decode most hidden meanings in communications,Crims. need sophisticated encryption to beat them.

Under terms & conditions on betting sites, no one else is allowed access to your betting account.
Police would have access to ip addresses for all the past logins and days the bets were placed.
It's only a matter of time for the cyber cops.

Interesting how this came to light hot on the heels of one betting agency landing in hot water for leaking the plunge by troubled player…

NRL match-fixing: Manly Sea Eagles 'disappointed' by claims, backs players against 'unfair innuendo'
By Siobhan Fogarty and staff
Updated about an hour ago

The Manly Sea Eagles say police have not contacted the NRL club over match-fixing claims and it is disappointed its reputation has been "unfairly" tarnished.

The ABC understands investigators are also yet to speak to the source of allegations that certain Manly players were paid to throw two matches last year.

The NSW Police Organised Crime Squad said it was in the early stages of examining information relating to the claims.

It is alleged large sums of money were bet on the results and margins of both of the games

In line with what Geo said above I won't comment specifically on this case but when you're running an Op it throws up all sorts of interesting information not directly related to the investigation but worth pursuing. For examples I'd cite the Jockey tapes or the recent ICAC/Cunneen thing. Given the facts on hand I'd have a good guess on what the set of circumstances are but I won't float them here.

No,i play Golf with a couple of Police officers, its naivety like your that law enforcement relies on to catch the Einsteins after a quick buck.

Mate I worked for a decade in law enforcement, a good deal of it in TI. If your copper friends believe their agency has the technology you're talking about they've either never worked in TI or are having a lend. Maybe ASIO or ASIS has something like that - no idea - but in the normal law enforcement environment the decoding such as it is is done by humans.

So let's not go around throwing insults based on second hand information.

Well, there's still a post on here naming players who he/she believes will be relieved if nothing comes of it. If we are to refrain from posting gossip (assumedly not to implicate Ballin) why is that post still on here?

Thank you..I have gone through the tread again and deleted those posts I missed…

It would be helpful to use the Report Function for posts you believe breach forum rules..

How about stop **any type of betting to do with any rugby league games.** :bulb:

Might solve a lot of issues.

Paul Kent was saying on 360 the other night that its a joke the way the NRL are the only comp in the world that has clubs announce their teams almost a week in advance. It opens the door for rorts left, right and centre.

I will bet you $500 that no current NRL player will be charged by police, or suspended by the NRL for more than a month

 Well Well Well

seems like there is a SNAKE in Manlys grass..

also seems like they

Didn't
Consider
Everyone

else as suspected match fixers.

NRL will get to the bottom of it though. Thus begins an interesting week.

David Williams - hasn't been seen in first grade since his betting scandal.
I read somewhere he put $60 on himself to be top try scorer - hardly an inside man job dealio, lol.
