Alledged match fixing

I saw recently that they were introducing bets on how many offloads a player would do in a match. I'm sure that will end well.

Ever since Gambling came into the Sport or any other Sport for that matter…..it's Polluted the game.
They would sell there SOULS for $$$$$ .

Have the NRL as an Organisation and Owner of it's code have the right to run the game with a Betting free game ?

It's a shame the codes don't really have any control over what betting options agencies are allowed to introduce. It's the reputation of their game that is damaged by fixing. That one would be as open to exploitation as the stupid spot betting in cricket where you can pick a no ball.

The Australian government could get involved but I'm not sure it would be worthwhile as they can't regulate internationally.

The NRL would get $$$$ from Betting Agencies like Sportsbet , TAB etc…. i dare say and so they can give Odds just before games , they are connected with each other.

The way things are going, this year we could do a Bradbury and make the grand Final.
Parra already their season is stuffed.
Manly mentioned in the betting scandal. Could be in trouble.
Broncos gone, just because they're the Broncos and are disliked by more than Manly is.

Melbourne gone because the original Salary Cap cheaters have finally admitted that the players not only knew what the brown paper bags were full of , but have never stopped whinging that the money should have been linked to the CPI .
Action has started in the High Court( led by Head Council, Sir Cammie Smith) to have
Back Pay paid for the loss of earnings on their second contracts.

Melbourne players involved have all pulled out of the competition for this year, saying they couldn't care less about their Legitimate contracts,
Spokesmen for the cap cheats , (Slippery Cronk). , said today that" I wouldn't get out of bed for the money on my real contract. I want the money from the paper bag one ."

The Earl of Maclean , Sir Gregory Inglis was asked for a comment , but responded by sticking his middle finger upwards. (narrowly missing taking his own eye out ) and saying that he couldn't understand the question, and we could all get Stuffed. !!!!!
He was asked if an easier question would help , but answered that he actually couldn't understand any questions at all, ever,!

With all these teams and players out, we should be odds on for a premiership :sign:

There has been allegations and rumours going on for decades about match fixing, but nothing much has ever stuck except Ryan Tandy **and a bloke who played for Balmain in the 60's**. You would have to think it goes on from time to time, greed can do funny things to people

Dick Wilson, some wag put a sign on the toilet block at Leichhardt Oval,'The Dick Wilson Stand'.
FFS Richard is his name…
Crims. try to suck up to Footballers and get in their inner circle,NRL players are the ones with money to buy drugs/Sex and some with gambling problems can be groomed to not try so hard in certain games, happening all over the World.

Under terms & conditions on betting sites, no one else is allowed access to your betting account.
Police would have access to ip addresses for all the past logins and days the bets were placed.
It's only a matter of time for the cyber cops.

Greed and the chance to make quick/ easy money has ruined the game.
Once money becomes involved, common sense and ethics are discarded by some.

Sports bets accounts are where crims hide their money. Someone was telling me they read some book on NSW prisons and one of the guards asked a prisoner as he was due for release ,what he was going to do? He said buy a Ferrari and show the guard his Sport Tab account. With hundreds of thousands of dollars in it, from selling drugs.

The trouble is once a footballer or offical crosses the line and gets into bed with a crook it is near impossible to get out of that bed without risking life and limbs

Dickie after he was flicked from the Tigers went and played in group 10 for Lithgow Workies and as far as I know got up to the same capper up there

Not just sports betting. A lot of drug dealers will play pokies just hoping to win enough to get a cheque that then magically becomes legitimate and legal money.

'I've just always been lucky with the bookies' has been a go-to excuse for unexplained wealth for decades.

**I bet** nothing will come of this. The NRL are a weak organisation, we've seen it time and time again.

**I bet** something DOES come of this…

LOL! Well played to you both!

Well he might as well leave his toothbrush there if that's true. Pretty easy to get a copy of the transactions for a Sports betting account. Under the POCA these days it's up to him to prove he acquired the assets legitimately.

Sea Eagles statement regarding match fixing allegations
Fri 03 Jun, 2016, 10:51am
Sea Eagles Media

The owners, board and staff of the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles want to assure its members, corporate partners and supporters that the club will fully co-operate with the NRL and NSW Organised Crime Squad in its examination of information in to alleged match fixing.

The club emphatically states:

* It values the integrity of rugby league above all else and will ensure full cooperation is provided to any investigation

* It has had no contact from the NSW Police or NSW Organised Crime Squad with respect to the alleged match fixing in the NRL

*** It is bitterly disappointed that the club's hard earned 70 year reputation for fair play has been unfairly tarnished by imputations raised by some media outlets involving two Sea Eagles matches last season, albeit there is presently no formal investigation.**

Sea Eagles Chairman Scott Penn and CEO Joe Kelly in a joint statement said:

"The Sea Eagles fully support the strong stance by NRL CEO Todd Greenberg that any player found guilty of match fixing be banned for life.

"We will continue to support our players one hundred per cent and give them the presumption of innocence - particularly against unfair mainstream and social media innuendo.

"We will continue to monitor the situation and openly communicate with Members, Corporate Partners and Supporters if any further information comes to hand.

"Meanwhile, we will concentrate on winning football games starting with Canberra in Canberra tonight."
