If it doesn’t then we (the fans) have every right to be furious. I take Cochise’s point, that long term we need to pressure the NRL to tighten the rules to prevent further occurrences. But, in the short term we have to get something out of Manly.
I’m also at a loss as to why the media aren’t talking about the fact he’s been induced to try to break his contract, just like it wasn’t mentioned with the previous players that have pulled this rubbish. There are currently rules around inducement to break contract, yet it barely rates a mention.

The only issue I have with that is it damages us on field next year just to prove a point. I do understand why people want him to stay, I just don't think it is in our best interests.

It's just the ease that we let him leave. All talk no walk as usual.

Yeah, Lee should’ve known Manky better but he won’t make the same mistake again. Very, very disappointed that we didn’t try and write into the release a contractual obligation for Alicia to be forced to sit out any/every time he should be scheduled to play us in future, at least for 3 yrs. See how useful his tactics are then...

Why would we do that?
Getting rid of an inconsistent upstart is a no brainer.
This feigning by management that he is worth so much more is genius.

It’s going to come to a crescendo in the next day or two I think. November 30 seemed to be the day it needed to be sorted by.

I keep going back to Jai Arrow last year South's were desperate to get him and the Titans wouldn't budge. I support the club on most things but I don't see any benefit to us in Manly getting him now. Beyond disappointed in this decision. If you are going to talk the talk

But was Jai Arrow making a complete goose of himself in the news, saying he’d never wear the jumper and basically damaging the club?

JA made a goose of himself and I dont think anyone saw it as anymore than a stunt to get out of a contract. I think we look far more vulnerable as an organisation by letting him get away with it.

I agree 200% but think of it this way, it gives an opportunity to the likes of Steff>>> Kei, etc which I for one cant wait to see these kids in action. If it was me I wouldn't let him go until he formally apologized in front of the playing group and then put him on the ferry to the North Shore

It was clearly untenable for him to remain. We end up paying him good money to either sit in reserves or kick stones and warm the bench. Neither makes us look professional.

We have to make the most of the situation and get whatever we can to resolve the situation - the last thing we need is a 'bad apple' spoiling the bunch at a forced training session.

I suspect we've negotiated something to our advantage but it may never be revealed publicly. Hopefully we at least make a decent media release so we come out looking like a professional organisation whilst JA wears the stigma of cry-baby.

Why ? Just play him. JAC is playing for Melbourne next season even though he is leaving. Why does it matter ?

I would have kept him and let him play if it weren’t for the comments about never pulling on the jersey again. I never saw anything from JAC denigrating his current employer.
It matters because this is a reoccurring theme for us and at a certain point we have to draw a line in the sand, not with standing Lee’s public comments about not releasing him without it being to our benefit.

I was all for getting rid of Matterson when he spat it last year but can't cop his mate doing the same now. What ever damage it may of caused by forcing him to fulfill his contract I still believe would have be worth it in regard to the message sent to the rest of his mates in the playing group - and their parasite managers.

I agree, Matterson and now Aloai created an opening, and I can see that unscrupulous managers will exploit it even more! I think that the club could react more forcefully.

Mate its shampoo, rinse repeat, we are a club that sits in the middle of the ladder and has a history with disgruntle players, that go to greener pastures "bottom line" Managers/players see us as are a **feeder club** that springboards their talent to a better club. How do we change that stigma is the 9.6 million-dollar question?
Believe in Madge / Hartigan they are connecting the dots, it will take time to finish.

Yep, winning fixes everything, but this is the premier Rugby League competition in the world, success is everything.

You can’t let a player make you lose site of that.

But keeping a disgruntled player to possibly poison others can not be acceptable, besides would he ever be trusted to be in the NRL team.

He is a wasted spot on our roster.

I want him as far away from the rest of the squad as possible, don't need him in the other players ears each day. I don't want someone playing 1st grade for us who had no desire to be here.

We have the leverage here. Manly are desperate for forwards. If they want him, it’s got to cost them something. Otherwise he stays in Ron Massey Cup.

Won’t happen we are snowflakes

If it doesn’t then we (the fans) have every right to be furious. I take Cochise’s point, that long term we need to pressure the NRL to tighten the rules to prevent further occurrences. But, in the short term we have to get something out of Manly.
I’m also at a loss as to why the media aren’t talking about the fact he’s been induced to try to break his contract, just like it wasn’t mentioned with the previous players that have pulled this rubbish. There are currently rules around inducement to break contract, yet it barely rates a mention.

I keep going back to Jai Arrow last year South's were desperate to get him and the Titans wouldn't budge. I support the club on most things but I don't see any benefit to us in Manly getting him now. Beyond disappointed in this decision. If you are going to talk the talk

I agree 200% but think of it this way, it gives an opportunity to the likes of Steff>>Kei, etc which I for one cant wait to see these kids in action. If it was me I wouldn't let him go until he formally apologized in front of the playing group

I was all for getting rid of Matterson when he spat it last year but can't cop his mate doing the same now. What ever damage it may of caused by forcing him to fulfill his contract I still believe would have be worth it in regard to the message sent to the rest of his mates in the playing group - and their parasite managers.

And if we miss the 8 because of another $350k in reserve grade?

Your assuming he would play reserve grade Im not.

That is what the majority want.

And two weeks ago the "majority" wanted JA as future captain. Things have a habit of changing quickly when referring to the majority.

I want him as far away from the rest of the squad as possible, don't need him in the other players ears each day. I don't want someone playing 1st grade for us who had no desire to be here.

And I didn't want Matterson anywhere near our club last year either - fast forward 12months later.

Keeping him here want stop future players pulling the same stunt, changing the rules will. Matterson was garbage this year, we made the right choice.

The way Josh has played this he has lost total respect and the Morrison Toilets will know be known as the Aloiai Morrison Toilets.

He will be booed and fans will hate him.

Shame that’s how he wanted his legacy here to end.
