Aloiai

If Wests Tigers stay firm on releasing sooky boy Aloiai for 2021 for a like for like
(Non sook) player I’ll get a membership !

If they fold they deserve to go under imo

I don't know how bringing Matterson into the discussion while choosing to ignore the fact we are undergoing yet another retention blunder helps. I couldn't care less about player reputations once they leave our club but rather more how we can change ours re: our retention/recruitment.

I'm also pretty certain Twal is actually his best mate, so does that mean we'll lose him? Who cares if players wish to follow suit of other former players. The concern should be more focused on our most problematic issues. Prospects won't care about the reasons either however will more likely question our treatment of players.

Retention blunder? I don't see this as a blunder. It comes down to the moral values of an individual.

There has been no photos of the boys back at training yet like most years.

Lee H said on SEN
WT counter offers made with Josh A
unlikely to give a release in 2021
He said contract will be fulfilled

In relation to Roberts he says meeting went well and he was honest on where he is as a footballer

He said Mansour is a good player Justin reached out to him from his time at Penrith, he is an option but a few players in the mix
Hopeful of making some signings soon .

No issues with Maguire as coach at all no dramas

I would say we will sign Roberts I reckon

Yeah I got the impression Roberts was pretty advanced but Lee didn't want to stick his foot in it.

Agree Avo
at the right price probably ok

From listening to Lee I would say we are no chance of Mansour (he will be at dogs)

Spin it how you want IDRC but the fact we're losing a player we've invested in and developed is the reality of it.
Its the reason we're labelled a basketcase in the first place.

There’s only 6 players left
Hardly worth it for the camera man to show up 😂

If the figures are correct - money played a critical part. With an early release he stands to gain a significant windfall.

No retention blunder from listening to Lee H on radio we made offers back and forth and then Josh A has said i am leaving as he has a bigger offer from club x
This is just like Matterson and listening to Lee H we will not be releasing players anymore
Josh you are out of luck

How so? He is under contract to WTs next year. He has a huge offer from Manly contingent upon a release being granted in 2021. I understand that but if the alleged comment about not wearing WTs' Jersey again is correct, it is not the right way of going about gaining a release.

Lee also said he doesn't think a player should be able to seek a release from club A to sign with club B on compassionate grounds and make a profit, he shoukd be held to the monetary value of the contract from club A to club B for the year he is breaking the contract.
He also said he would be speaking with Abdo and Nrl
fun times ahead

Look I get all that but it's not how it's gonna play out in the media. We all have a loyalty to the club and personal bias but this doesn't help the perception of the club's retention and recruitment one bit. Which is my whole point.

Surely got to be more to it that wanting more money. Rare for a player to come out and say “I’m never wearing the jersey again” whilst contracted. And a player that was somewhat of a leader and by all reports seemed happy. A player surely cannot be that upset by our negations that he would publicly say that 🤔

Did he give the Tigers last call on matching? Did he previously give his word on an agreement? Did he go back to the club and be honest and say this is what Ive been offered, I cant say no, what can you guys do?

I dont know the answers to these questions but based on the words from Lee H on SEN today, the answer to all of these questions are no. In which case its squarely a moral issue and Josh has shown his true character.

I really liked Josh, both as a player but also for the fact that he seemed to stand up for his principles (I dont agree with all of them). IF what Lee H and Michael Chammas are saying is true, then Josh's principled stand is all empty virtue signalling because when the rubber hits the road, he failed the test.

A thought regarding Aloia. If its true that he will "never wear a Tigers jersey again" and it was only a month ago there was a photo of Aloia post knee surgery (at Tigers expense of course), well the Tigers may prioritise physio and rehabilitation services to player that will be wearing our jersey. Then release him to Manly the week of RD 1. See how Manly going paying top dollar for a fat bloke with a bung knee.

Probably a good way to get the club sued.
