If Manly want Aloiai for 2021 I’d be completely disregarding a player trade and request they also take one of Packer, Mbye or Reynolds at full freight. Take it or leave it.

Clears some of our dead wood, and gives us another roster spot and plenty of cap space.

We should be careful we don’t make it to hard for Manly or they might give it away as too hard, swap with young Sirro would be good outcome imo.

Hey all, this doesn't really change the plot but it wasn't necessarily Josh's choice, it was the influence and manipulation of his manager and also partially his wife. Bottom line, he's still chasing money but it wasn't solely his own choice; this also explains why he had a sudden change of heart for the club. It's honestly really bad but it wasn't completely in his hands.

Agree, very poorly advised. He’s a front rower so I’m prepared to cut him some slack. Show up on Monday, rip in and all is forgiven.

The WTs can do him a favour by releasing him if we get Sironen or another acceptable offer in return. Imo he is way overrated on this forum and if he can get better dollars good luck to him subject to a suitable offer.

But I do agree and think the situation with Aloiai is salvagable, IF and it's a big IF, IF both parties want to salvage the relationship.

I agree mate but the club have to prove their negotiation skills to me, short of blokes unwanted elsewhere, what have they negotiated? We have to wait 18 months for utoikamanu/Laurie. Maybe we need to send in Tom Cruise.

The player manager has to do all the work. This is smart business as the manager and client have a $ interest in offering what WTs' want. For being placed in this situation on the eve of pre-season, I am happy with how it has been handled.

Why would they do that and why would they have a spare roster slot?

They obviously value Aloiai’s signature given the money they’re willing to pay. Offer to release Aloiai next year like they want, but on the proviso they take one of Ivan’s gifts as well.

Siro as a trade is somewhat reasonable, however, our cap would be much better off this year and next without an overpaid player on our books that may not see much first grade moving forward. I see this as a perfect opportunity to try and move one of them on if all parties agree. If the players stay for the money here and see little first grade, Reynolds and Packer especially will be lucky to get minimum wage on their next deals.

Mbye and Reynolds have both previously played under Hasler. Mbye also has some utility value which might appeal to Hasler. Packer is a long shot given his performances and ongoing injury issues.

Garner for Siro trade is another option or we could attempt to sign Siro for 2022 regardless if we’re that interested in bringing him home.

If Manly are that keen on Aloiai, it’s worth a shot in my opinion.

Why are all off seasons for WT laced with drama. Let's get this situation solved quickly so we have 30 players all involved in majority of pre season not arriving late and struggle in 2021. We have missed the finals since 2011 and fans are getting bloody sick of it.

I agree with your sentiment Magpies. Unfortunately this is all on Aloiai and his manager. I hope an announcement from the WTs is made this week.
