Aloiai

Can someone explain to me how signing JO is compensation for JA leaving WT. We are signing JO from the Broncos with perhaps 2021 and 2022 subsidised by the Broncos. That is a completely standalone transaction from JA and is similar to the way we bought Mbye. If, because we have JO we let JA go to Manly a year early, where have we received any compensation? Sure we're not paying any of his 2021 freight but neither we should because he sought to break his contract by leaving a year early. I just don't see why some are saying signing JO is compensation for letting JA go to Many one year early.

The only thing I can see is we have his 2021 salary ($350k) plus maybe some Manly cash? to buy someone else, maybe (hope) they have found that player hence they were happy to release JA, if not then I’m not sure what they have done it for.

I thought the POM said something about Manly paying his full freight next year plus something else but not a player.

I imagine they may be paying us cash for an early release over and above his contract money.

Didn't read it that way but you may be correct. If Manly pay a reasonable part of JO's freight then we will have been compensated for the early release.

I read it that Manly were just picking up all of Aloiai's salary. They're not chipping in for Joe O. That's the way I read it anyway.

I don’t think we are. It’s weak.

If that's the case, weak is exactly what it is. We were walked all over by Moses and Matterson, their managers and Parramatta. Lee H said it wouldn't happen again with Aloiai. I intend to hold him to his word.

Maybe not but usually something slips out even if it's not the full detail.

Yep, and the argument for releasing him will be the same as Matterson ie he was going to be a destabilising influence on the team. It means that any player who has a breakout year and wants and upgrade can just throw a tantrum to be released.

Who knows or will overly care, as like a rotten piece of fruit or vegetable, you just get rid of it so it doesn't spoil those surrounding.

If we get Sironen for Garner, we've done OK.
