Has anyone seen Clarkeys column on Instagram? He gives his opinion on the tigers and joshA situation and pretty much sides with josh and even references Matto saying it’s our club damaging Josh's reputation.. what’s interesting about it is both Mikalae and Talau liked the post. Makes me think, does anyone know how the team reacted to josh wanting to leave?

That guy will suck up to any footy player at any given opportunity.

Isn’t it double dipping though if we get the salary cap relief , as well as the player sitting out for the year ? I’m almost certain you can’t do that . Once the contract is terminated then we would have no authority over him anymore ? I can’t see the NRL forcing him to sit out for skipping training .
As much as he deserves it .
The most brutal thing would be make him train with the NSW cup team or Ron Massey Cup team , name him at 20 every single round . That way he doesn’t play for anyone . As was suggested earlier in this thread

Get rid of them too

I don’t understand how being induced by another club and/or your agent to break your contract with the WT and then acting out like a petulant child results in the club damaging your reputation. What I do understand is that “Clarkey” has a penchant for putting the boot into the WT and his ‘opinion’ is largely irrelevant.

I think it's about time the game rids itself of player managers and tries to come up with something new in the ways of how players are represented during contract negotiations. Not sure of the best solution but these agents are grubby used car salesmen and have no place in ruining clubs for their own financial gain.

Would be interesting to see an actual typical contract, and cash flow chart. Does the club pay the money to the manager who removes his commission before passing the balance to the client?
Is the commission structure similar to say a commercial property lease? Is commission paid up front and based on term of contract?
How does it all work? Anyone know?

Most players in the team think he's a sook

If that’s the case why are players liking posts like this? You would think they’d all be dirty on him same as Matto.

I just cannot believe how much these people get paid it’s insane say josh is on 400k a year that’s 7.6 grand a week that’s is insane aye I know he has to pay tax on it and some goes to his manager but still that is just insane

The roster management is like a game of poker,to know when to hold them and when to throw them. With JA and Mcintre both good forwards, but only bench players for some sides, the tigs no doubt wayed the pros and cons.Tigs would have many irons in the fire regards players on the market, and trying to balance the bank to allow for strike players. These negotiations must be kept secret for obvious reasons. At the moment we have few strike players, and thats what the tigers need to buy.So far so good.

Maybe if the NRL / players association work together, that way both sides' best interests are taken into consideration, and managers don't get their pound of flesh and monopolize the NRL chessboard

Have you seen the Insta post? it is with Elias telling JA to honour the contract then next clip it's his nephew the tanker and Benny saying a different thing then next clip is a woman with a facial expression of "oh really"... I thought it was funny and I would've liked it too if I hadn't read clarkey's comments... these kids probably just saw those clips and just liked it without reading clarkey's comments...

I saw @JoshColeman99 's comment in there too... he made a good one but some of the comments made by other people are just plain rubbish anyway, going back to Talau and Mikaele liking it... I don't think they read the comment and/or story made by clarkey but anyway these kids needs to be educated on social media, end of story

It is good that players feel comfortable in speaking with Maguire. This seems to be at odds with how some like to portray him in the media.

I get the impression that the club has organised the roles in the recruitment and retention process so that Madge plays the sympathetic, almost father-figure type role, while Hartigan is the hard man making the tough decision.

For example, Benji approaches Madge and says that he has heard that he won't be offered a new deal. This is news to Madge. He tells Benji to give him 24 hours and he will see what he can do. He comes back to Benji full of sympathy. "I'm sorry Benji, but the decision has been made.....".

McIntyre phones Madge and says that he still hasn't received a formal offer from the club and that the Titans have tabled an offer, which he has accepted. Madge expresses surprise and regret that he is going. He tells Macca that he wanted to keep him. Obviously the football department has stuffed up.....

This way, Madge stays on good terms with the playing group while Hartigan plays the role of the man making the unpopular decisions.

Or they've taken retention and recruitment decisions away from Maguire. It just seems messy either way for the players

I think it has been set up this way so when coaches leave the club continues with a plan.
Not sure what coaches think about it, but they are being paid to coach, so only the egos may be hurt.
