The trouble with this narrative is that it's based on something that isn't even true.

'So many players want to leave'?? Who?? The Sam Macca situation is entirely normal, that's what you see every year at every club. Benji didn't want to leave. It only really leaves Josh Aloiai himself.
It's fine to desire insane money, but don't paint yourself to be a victim, and don't pretend it's anything to do with the club or the coach.

Has anyone seen Clarkeys column on Instagram? He gives his opinion on the tigers and joshA situation and pretty much sides with josh and even references Matto saying it’s our club damaging Josh's reputation.. what’s interesting about it is both Mikalae and Talau liked the post. Makes me think, does anyone know how the team reacted to josh wanting to leave?

Did you see one of the comments, idk how to post pictures but one of the girls obviously sides with it and josh responded, idk I thought it was quite interesting

Girl said 'i replied to a story he post on his insta and he liked it, so there is clearly something more happening that we don't know about. tigers fans need to stop bashing josh aloiai and actually take a step back and ask, why so many players want to leave the club or have a problem with the club. the tigers have a history of treating players like shit. i mean look how they treated two of the greats of this game benji marshall and robbie farrah. tigers fans are frustrated and fed up and management is using that to suck them in and manipulate them to make them believe that the players are the problem when it's actually management that is the problem. management is going to ruin that club. they already are ruining it. tigers fans please open your eyes and use your brain' Josh A replied 'thanks appreciate it'

:joy: :joy: :joy: Lol

It's irrelevant what any of Josh's supporters say. Won't make a difference to the outcome.

Cue the heartstrings when it comes to Benji and Robbie. The clubs bigger than any one player and loyalty goes both ways.

Thats a really short term view of the situation mate.

My Godm this forum keeps crying out for a lock and you wouldnt take Jake T? For mine the best lock in the comp.

If you think he'll ever leave Manly you're kidding yourself.

Not at all, I was simply replying to @Tore85 post saying "The last thing we need is a sulker like Jake T". Jake T is NOT the last thing in the world we need and if there was some miracle and he was available he would be heaven sent....but I agree, never leaving Manly.

Should we still be moping about Tedesco, Woods and Moses leaving the club about forty thousand years ago under a different coach?

Clarkey is an idiot. I can’t believe people think he’s actually got a good footy brain and knows what’s he’s talking about. Some of his opinion pieces are literally laughable they’re that bad so he’s got no clue what’s going on he’s just guessing

Only reason I follow him is for player Q&A’s and the fact he posts articles behind paywalls sometimes.

I wouldn't be stressing. We're not having issues signing players with upside. I know Roberts comes with baggage but he is an outstanding player on his day. It's up to Madge to make sure there's plenty of those days.

And Daine Laurie is a good signing by any measure.

No not at all. Nor should the history of players wanting out and playing it in the media yr after yr, be dismissed as only happening last season.

what I've learnt from all this is that Hartigan is massive on player value and cap space. looking at it from a football department perspective, he was aware of how much Aloiai loved WT and was hopeful that he'd sacrifice a few dollars in order to keep him here and allow us to attract quality youth and other players.

it clearly backfired as Josh believed he was worth more and wasn't happy with how he was treated. unfortunate circumstances and I love Josh as both a player and person, but that extra $150k or so that we would've saved by offering him less may well have been the difference between us signing a marquee or not.

Never say never. They did push Glenn Stewart out at the end of his career.

Yeah that goes without saying. It would be good if we can pick Offa as well. Was certainly off the boil in the year gone by but as pointed out, he's become a father, wife was ill and his team had a year from hell on the field. All that would reflect in performance.

Entitled to your thoughts however disagree with what you have stated in general. Former players well Farrah coming back next season to support the club, Taylor situation messy but still had an opportunity to play last game for us.

Marshall D was just not up to scratch played out messy again but again right decision made.

JA - Has a contract with us for 2021 wants out early money, WT want a like for like swap deal just what the storm were asking with JAC, Manly have said no, contract remains how is that the clubs fault.

The way that JA has played this out on social media shows nil respect for the club, i call it the Marshall Media Tactics if you don't get what you want know the Chairman/CEO/Coach in turn you also don't respect the long term supporters.

With other players liking his posts well it shows that there also not onboard with the club and should be weeded out when contract expires, Mikaele already can see him being shown the door at the end of the season.

Can someone explain to me what "sacking" him and terminating his contract does for us?

I assume it only allows him to just get a new contract at Manly without us receiving any commercial benefit?

Tend to agree nil benefit in this, might just be media speculation coming from the players manager.

Is it possible just to issue him breach notices for not turning up - dock his pay or fine him every time he doesn't turn up for practice , but don't terminate his contract - so that we save money, stick firm with not releasing him until we find an alternative - make him train on his own when he does turn up and just let it be an example. I know not perfect but there is no way after a while he won't get back into line real quick - no footy player wants to miss a year of football, not being paid and losing any football match fitness and skills.

Saves team for being subjected to a cancerous attitude among the playing group and also frees up the 350k he was on to use elsewhere. Ideally a player swap would benefit both parties

would it be to stop him turning out in any way shape or form for another club? NRL management would have to rubber stamp any new contract and if he burns us like it looks like he is going to do surely it would be in our favour to simply sack him for his contractual indiscretions...If we sacked him and the nrl let him sign with Manly it would be worse than farcical

His manager has been asked to come up with an offer to WTs. Aloiai's position is untenable. at WTs which is of his own making.

so he can offer the sum of this year's contract in cash? That would be all he could offer I would think.
