My Godm this forum keeps crying out for a lock and you wouldnt take Jake T? For mine the best lock in the comp.

I would, in a heartbeat.

it astounds me that people don't want rep level players

It is good that players feel comfortable in speaking with Maguire. This seems to be at odds with how some like to portray him in the media.

I get the impression that the club has organised the roles in the recruitment and retention process so that Madge plays the sympathetic, almost father-figure type role, while Hartigan is the hard man making the tough decision.

For example, Benji approaches Madge and says that he has heard that he won't be offered a new deal. This is news to Madge. He tells Benji to give him 24 hours and he will see what he can do. He comes back to Benji full of sympathy. "I'm sorry Benji, but the decision has been made.....".

McIntyre phones Madge and says that he still hasn't received a formal offer from the club and that the Titans have tabled an offer, which he has accepted. Madge expresses surprise and regret that he is going. He tells Macca that he wanted to keep him. Obviously the football department has stuffed up.....

This way, Madge stays on good terms with the playing group while Hartigan plays the role of the man making the unpopular decisions.

Or they've taken retention and recruitment decisions away from Maguire. It just seems messy either way for the players

I think it has been set up this way so when coaches leave the club continues with a plan.
Not sure what coaches think about it, but they are being paid to coach, so only the egos may be hurt.

So it will never be his team

He still has a major input (but he can’t do it all) his job is to coach after all, but I think Cleary burnt them and they are just ensuring they don’t let it happen again.
Maybe why Madge hasn’t rushed in to re-sign?

I think people would have told you that about Aloiai a month ago and probably Nofa too. If the right offer comes along, it’s goodbye.

Just because the coach doesn't do the negotiating doesn't mean he doesn't indicate the players he wants and how much he thinks he is worth to the team. Just like the players have managers to handle their negotiations . It prevents the personal side getting in the way of business. I would expect all professional clubs do it.

You're probably right and Madge could be looking at other clubs. I keep saying it that there's something not right atm, it's not a well oiled machine currently

There seems to be changes being made, probably still some kinks, but some people simply don’t like change.

But if Madge does depart (I hope he doesn’t) then we aren’t left in a salary cap mess like the last bloke left us in.

Has anyone seen Clarkeys column on Instagram? He gives his opinion on the tigers and joshA situation and pretty much sides with josh and even references Matto saying it’s our club damaging Josh's reputation.. what’s interesting about it is both Mikalae and Talau liked the post. Makes me think, does anyone know how the team reacted to josh wanting to leave?

Most players in the team think he's a sook

If that’s the case why are players liking posts like this? You would think they’d all be dirty on him same as Matto.

Irrelevant really. It is up to the WTs to determine the behaviour it accepts from employees. Discipline is crucial to the success of any team and what is reported to have been texted is unacceptable.

If it was me I’d be saying, my reputation is on the line here, unless you get me a squad capable of making the eight, I’m not extending. I think a lot will depend on these few roster spots we have left. We still have two big holes in the spine and back row (or a dynamic prop)

I’m sure he understands that if he left WT he’d be the first in line for the next available job.

Geez there's some absolute wood ducks commenting on that post. Some of the dribble there is next level. Clarkey is a dead set muppet feeding into it as well.

Thanks for the heads up, just read it, he says 'It's clear the club has leaked something in an attempt to ruin his image and it wouldn't be the first time this has occurred.' -The fact Mikalae and Talau liked it is concerning.

Instagram is making this situation worse. More than 3 times Aloiai or a media outlet has posted something and Aloiai as added to the situation.

Some peeps here talkin rubbish as if Manly would let Jake go anywhere , let’s talk sense

Jake will be a 1 club player. Waste of time even talking about him.

So what is Josh's grief here? He felt the club undervalued him? So why the dummy spit, what's his side of the story here? Is there more to it than he wants more money? How did he go from publicly professing his love for the club to bit wanting a thing do with us?

And on a side note, I'm pretty sick of our club falling out with players being played out in the media. It's not a good look for the club. Sort it guys, behind closed doors, so we stop looking like an unprofessional club.
