Since the manager has to come up with an offer to WTs, it may well be that a player from his stable or the client of another manager is offered. We have an NRL spot and some money so the opportunity could be attractive for a good young player.

That is half the problem. The agent is playing musical chairs with his clients and getting a cut of every single contract that is signed.

When the NRL is looking for solutions to this, the starting point should be that agents aren't entitled to any commission on contracts signed (for the full duration) when a player breaks an existing contract to sign.

corey parker never seemed to have a problem sorting his own contracts out....these player managers are the game's biggest cancer

Manly quickly agreed to release AFB which makes you wonder what player was arranged as a replacement.

In his defence he is from New Zealand.

Can’t agree with that, don’t think Aloiai has ever been considered for Origin, but in any case if we can swing signing Joe O along with a straight swap of a player from Manly it would well and truly cover the loss of Aloiai, imo.

Yeah but the competition for spots in the NSW squad in the forwards is far greater than it is in the Qlder spot .....Jo O is a fringe player at the Broncos with a bad attitude I'd take Lodge back over Jo

You play Fantasy and you watch potential players closely .....I seriously don't rate Jo O

If Aloiai played for Qld he would have been in the squad before Jo

What ? Where did you pull that from ? The bad attitude stuff ? I’ve never heard that about him . He dropped his form the last few years , which coincidentally was the same time his missus was diagnosed with cancer .

Im quite prepared to give Jo the benefit of the doubt in regards his form since the diagnosis of his partners cancer...Im not an NRL contracted player on very good money, however it doesnt matter how much you earn, once this disease rears it ugly head you become stuck between a rock and a hard place ...the love of your partner or your love of the game and club you play for..

I really feel for J.O. as it certainly turned my life upside down when my partner was diagnosed with it...

The bloke is a peanut.
I am sure if he approached the club and explained that he has received a once in a lifetime offer, that can set his young family up for life, they may have considered it in good faith. We released Tapau and Blake Austin in similar situations.

But it gets murky (illegal??) with Manly only offering it if he breaks his contract.

Ask the club for a release and if they say no, sign with Manly for 2022 onwards and play out this year with the tigers. But manly have offered an un-ethical deal, dependent on breaking a contract.

Tigers should call him in and say we understand you never intend to represent the tigers or wear the jersey again. Please sign this document stating so and we will advise the nrl you will be sitting out the 2021 season unpaid.

But it won't happen, he is showing his true colors and Hia position is untenable. We will roll over and accept a player swapwith manly.

I think sirro could be good, he seems to have found his footing in 1st grade, when not injured

100% it would have been pre-arranged, both having the same manager.
Something smells.

**The threat of sacking should have never been mentioned.** This is where the club gets it wrong. Their initial statements that JA had a contract with the club for 2021 and the club would be enforcing that contract unless they were compensated was all that needed to be said. No more statements were needed. Now it just looks like its a slanging match between the 2 parties.

Haven't really followed it too closely since it broke, so excuse me for asking but has the club threatened to sack?
I was aware of, the contract will be fulfilled in any way the club sees fit (mowing lawns) comment from Lee but seemed to have missed this. Or was it actually part of that statement? - tbh that specific comment surprised me so much that I didn't actually read the full article.

Just want the best outcome for the club and team.
And this is not a dig at the club but I can't actually remember the last time our playing group seemed like a band of brothers(think they've showed signs of it over the past few years but they've also faced some distractions too) or when the club itself had that feeling of being one big family.
Might sound silly but they(the team) make it easy for us fans to embrace them in that way however I'd also like to see them have that same sense too.

Caught cheating at the Casino ....

Broke camp with the SOO young guns

Found drunk in his car at the wheel asleep 10 months ago ..stood down by Broncos let go now

Not heard one good thing come fom the Broncos about Jo ....

If we are going to break the no DH policy lets do it with a far better player than this

I understood he is a replacement for McIntyre, not Aloiai. Manly supporters are suggesting he will replace Aloiai but that in my view is not the case. Aloiai's manager has been asked to come up with an offer to the Club to replace or compensate WTs for Aloiai. I believe we all need to take a step back as the Club has handled this well with responsibility on his manager to come up with an acceptable solution for WTs.

There was a quote from an unnamed source from WT in the Daily Rag. I'm pretty sure no one of substance would have said it but as usual the media writes it up as gospel. My remark was in reply to another poster saying that the ultimatum had been made.

When the NRL is looking for solutions to this, the starting point should be that agents aren't entitled to any commission on contracts signed (for the full duration) when a player breaks an existing contract to sign.

So if the player rings his manager and says he wants out of the club because the coach is a fruit loop or for whatever reason, the manager should lose his commission for doing his job in securing another club for his client.
The player managers aren't the issue it's the NRLs system of when you can negotiate that is the problem.
I still think they are used car salesmen with a different title thou
