But am I being too negative with my points raised in the Live Game thread

Maybe our defence in the main was slightly better than our average 2022 performance ...but what else was better than 2022

Chance for the fans that can see the positives of todays performance to maybe steal us from the Dark side

Lots of ball movement. Not just five hit ups and a bomb. Lots of dropped ball due to the up-tempo style of play. Every time it looked like we were coming back into the game, someone made a simple error like not watching the ball into their hands and the Titans got the upper hand again.

At least we have committed to a play style. We are doing things based on principles rather than hard structure.

The only positives i saw today was we dominated territory.Everything else was poor especially the total lack of direction we had

Also Twal passed the balled 2 or 3 times.

To much side to side and simple handling errors.

The defence (apart from that scrum try) was improved

There were occasions where we straightened the attack which looked good and I loved. Also kick chase was better.

Hated how we chucked it sideways just because. Same ol making some metres or a half break and no one to pass to. Or letting it bounce off a kick. Or missing gettable conversions.

Biggest Positive - We didn't concede too many penalties.

We played a completely different style. We passed and offloaded a lot, and changed direction a lot. Our forwards rolled up the field easier than last year. We dominated field position unlike last year. We didn't concede a lot of penalties unlike last year.

If you're really really upset with that game, I'd say you probably had unrealistic expectations. We won the spoon last year and have made 3 finals' in our 23 year history. It's not gonna click straight away, and that's if it does at all.

Imo nothing in today's game was disastrous or unexpected at this stage of our development.

However we still have a few players in key positions who aren't up to it and have way too many error prone players.

And this is coming from someone who was at the game, and was right in front of Laurie letting Mcintyre score. That's the kind of stuff that doesn't need to happen. The scores are much closer without that try, and the whole context of the game could have been different. We can't afford those errors. We win without them today. The other aspects of our game were good enough for round 1.

Will take 4-8 weeks for combinations to gel. Pretty much the result I expected. We are lacking a big strike weapon out wide. Sheens nailed it in the press conference, we lost but we didn’t get beat. The reserve grade fullback will be putting pressure on Laurie before long.

You gotta take your chances in the NRL.

We basically dominated territory both with and without the ball for most of the game, simpkin looked good, every now and than our passes looked good which shows the direction we're moving has promise(mabye) also it's only the first round so alot of rust is kind of expected and should get better(should,lol) that's most of the positives that I can come up with that don't relate to a single player

thats all well and good to praise the new structure compared to Madges hardline,but it doesnt work if the players cant do the fundamentals of rugby league,hold the ball (possesion wins 99 % of games,if you offload make sure some one is there to give it to,if you hold the ball and run hard and straight it gives the opposition less time to strip the ball or force an error...but thats just me I have no idea,,,play on guys...

A lot of sideways ball movement and guys wanting to run sideways , Doueihi showed with his try that you just need to run hard . With a more direct playing style and some more time getting to know the hooker’s game, I think we will improve a lot.

What does that actually mean though? We got beat. We got 0 competition points. Dolphins won and got 2 points against better competition. The players get paid to turn up next week and try and win again.
