Amateur hour

A lot of that article has merit except for the Sheens sympathizing. It had been over 10 yrs and it was time for someone to breathe some fresh air into the place. Sheens is a media darling though, so don't ever expect them to justify WT's decision there.

Man, NONE of that article has merit because it's in the Daily Telegraph. Meritorious journos don't work for Rupert and only morons read the crap dished out from those who do! Simple as that. Case closed, your honour.

I wish I could be paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to act like this.
This entire situation is sounding more like primary school kids having a dummy spit because they can't get their own way.

**Is there any other club in the NRL, maybe Parramatta aside, where the entire club is run though the media?**

Why, again, is the running of the club, the future of Potter, the players being unhappy, the Brian Smith report etc. etc. being played out in the media?

Why isn't this all happening behind closed doors?

Totally embarrassing. Unprofessional. Amateur.

Head to any club forum and see how the fans claim bias and persecution to their side.

I don't believe we are subject to an abnormal amount of media scrutiny, certainly not more in comparison to some other clubs like Sharks, Knights, Manly, Titans, Raiders, Broncos etc. It probably seems like more because you gravitate towards and remember articles about WT.

Although Buzz did seem to have spat the dummy on us a few years ago when the players basically boycott the DT for a while.

Could be anyone. You have to look at the facts. Would we have so many resignings if players didn't like potter? The team is achieving well above expectation. People forget to also blame the head coach for this.

Someone mentioned this is a ploy from Meyer to cheapen potters new contract. I think this could be likely also.

Otherwise this is just another BS article. It will stop when/if we start winning games again.

So they want a different voice but they want the coach replaced by the guy who has been the voice all year and "the most hands on"

The petulant children have come back it seems.

FTR Robbie Farah's opinion on coaches should count for zero. He rates Ricky Stuart FFS

Agree on all accounts

You can see how mayers hands are tied as well due to the board reshuffle. This board stuff has gone on for the entire year and needs to be resolved ASAP.

All these potter sympathy articles will make him a target at another club then well see Mayer coming out with a response saying another club offered overs that we couldn't match.

Best solution to all this is making the 8 this year so that the fans are happy, players are happy and potter will stay on for a others year by default.

WT have had a split dressing room for most of our existence, with a faction also trying to run the team for a decade or so. Your list provides a couple of constants, that not only "could be", but are most likely to be.

Mayer can't win!!! People complain when no information comes from the club, and complain when some info comes from the club. An article appears in some dodgy newspaper, and instead of sitting back he responds with a statement explaining the clubs position. Yeah, he didn't give too much away, but he did respond. I'm actually glad he is more active in engaging with supporters.

And as for leaks, journos are looking for any rubbish angle, and are not beyond fabricating stories based on the old "I heard it from a mate who is the uncle of a bloke who works for the company that makes the ballboys socks" kinda whispers. Every club cops it, not just ours.

Agree 100% Owley Girl.

Half of the old board wanted Payten, not Potter. That's how Todd got the assistant gig.

It will be interesting to see what the new board wants - that's what it should come down to. Let's hope they have some gumption and stand up to the rat that's behaving like a brat.

Makes me wonder too, maybe they all just get their "scoops" from forums and social media. Player X says 'Potts made us work too hard today' on social media and the headline is players want coach sacked. Forum member writes 'got inside scoop on XYZ' and it's in the papers later.

Its been proven in the past

Several years ago on another forum, some Roosters fans fabricated a story about a Roosters player, something to do with circular quay station and the poster was a rail employee which helped in the scam…I cant recall the details specifically but it was a trap and I think it was Bourbon becca fell for it...published the ''scoop'' in the paper when it was all planned fabrication

Was a Roosters fan, about a fictional Swans player.

Reporter's Swan dive

Some rugby league fans are finding enterprising ways to deflect attention from the code's hiccups.

Someone calling themselves "Choppies" announced on a fans internet forum last week that they had concocted a rumour about an AFL player and emailed it to the Sunday Telegraph journalist Rebecca Wilson. She then reported in her column: "The Swans aren't all angels. One player abused CityRail staff at Circular Quay last week. 'I told you I haven't got a ticket,' he shouted. He was politely told he would face a fine if he didn't pay his fare. 'You can go and –-- yourselves,' he said."

Wilson told Spike she also got a follow-up phone call from a "CityRail employee" and called back, confirming it was a CityRail number. Such dirty tricks didn't surprise her, she said, given that she receives up to 50 abusive emails a day from Bulldogs fans.

Since the rumour was published, Swans fans have spotted the trick and gossiped about it on their own fans forum. The club's media manager, Stephen Brassel, said they'd been unable to locate the culprit around the club "and now we know why".
