Since when does Channel Nine get to dictate another businesses expansion plan?

doesn't ch9 pay nrl nearly $1b a year?

a lot of what happens in nrl would be dicated by ch9

@Tigerlily Read up on English county cricket and how it is almost dead after following "advice" from broadcasters.

Ch9 should NOT be listened to. Add extra teams but cannibalisation is something all successful businesses avoid.

Titans is a basket case of a club and is not reflective of NRL depth. Just look at how Melbourne exceeds in a (mostly) level playing field with their club culture and systems. Clubs make their own success.

It's been pretty obvious for a long time that Cronulla and Sts/Illawara should merge and then make 3 very strong Western Sydney teams out of Parra/Penrith/Tigers/Bulldogs.

Put in a 2nd Brisbane team and add a Perth team.

16 teams. Sorted.


Once all that is going along nicely, in the next decade I'd like to see the NRL look to expand to 18 teams, Adelaide/Sunshine Coast/PNG/2nd NZ team.

Illawarra is the heartland of rugby league. The Dragons have already been through one merger. They are fine and besides, like us they stood by the ARL. Let's target ex Super League clubs.

So because of a merger 2 decades ago, just kick Cronulla out then?

Selection and televising of games yeah fair enough. They have no say in dictating expansion plans.
