Anasta out for up to three weeks

Just heard that Anasta is out for up to three weeks with an ankle injury. Interesting selection coming up in a couple of weeks.

Yeah well Austin into 5/8, but who takes over to spark us at dummy half when Luani gets tired? We sure could use Dene Halatau right about now. All these long term injuries year after year are so bloody annoying! I just want to see what a fully (or at least 90%) fit Wests Tigers team can actually do - arghh! :brick:

One of his ankles had to give way from the weight of all the knives plunged into his back on here, sooner or later

Cherrington.

The football gods have answered our prayers.

Austin moves to 5/8

Luani to play 60-80 minutes at hooker

Fulton to cover at dummy half should Luani require a spell

I thought Luani was really solid last game (and also against the eels). Made 34 tackles in less than 40 minutes of game time and roughly 50m in runs. I don't understand why he played limited minutes. He came on at lock in the second half for a little spell in which he did a lot of work but then was pulled off so when Austin came off injured Fulton ended up going in. I think i remember him spilling it at least once out of dummy half but he wouldve been rooted after playing at second row all game. I think if we go into the roosters game knowing fulton might have to cover for luani, the interchanges will be planned better

The great minds of the forums footy geniuses have got there wish….be careful what you wish for ...looking forward to the return of Braith hope it is not to long.

Your prayers perhaps - I, for one, wasn't praying for another one of our top 17 to be injured.

This is the "break" Austin needed…2 or 3 games at #6 to show us and Potter if he is worthy of the gig full time....I would also play Fults at #9 to give Luani a break until Robbie comes back...as for Rowe with Simona suspended for 2/3 weeks we have no alternative but to persevere with Rowe at #1 until Teddy returns(hurry up)!

I'm not seeing the positives, although I am grooving to Kool and the Gang and I just hit the repeat button.

The forum hates Anasta because he's no longer a world class 5/8th, and to be fair we never expected him to be. We got a bargain price from the Roosters, where he was Newtown bound had he stayed. The Roosters had Braith playing in the backrow, his days as a half seemed over, and his chances of staying in the top grade weren't far behind.

At the right price Braith Anasta was a smart depth signing. He was intended to be a wise old head in the forwards rotation and a competent 2nd string half as required. We were still hurting from the departure of Robert Lui, and our options in the halves going into 2013 were Moltzen, Sironen and Marshall, all 3 of them injury prone and inconsistent. With Luke Brooks still a season away, Anasta seemed a good deal. Even if not needed in the halves, a backrower with a workable passing and kicking game gives you options.

Things don't go to plan at Concord. Not ever. After a woeful 2013 season, Marshall decided that the problem wasn't him, he was just in the wrong code and that playing Super Rugby would allow his genius to shine once again. Somehow Braith Anasta is once again starting at 6 in the NRL.

Braith's too old, he knows that as does everyone in the stands. He took a pay cut to come to the Tigers and could be making a lot more money in the ESL. The decision to come to the Tigers and finish his career in the top grade is admirable. His halves partner is 10 years younger than him and origin bound in a few years. He has another talented young half in Blake Austin nipping at his heels. The home fans all hated him when he was a Rooster, and we haven't exactly softened now that he's in our colours. He's got to tackle blokes who are bigger, faster and younger than him, and we hate him for doing it.

Anasta made 20 odd tackles against the Titans on Sunday. From where I stood on the hill, there was some venom in those hits in the second half. The best bloke we could find on the day was still prepared to put himself on the line and hurt himself doing so. Whatever we think of his performance as a makeshift 5/8th that's no cause for celebration. I'd like to think that we have more loyalty to those who wear the black white and gold.

Bring in Austin at number 6, but show some respect.

Well said Cosimo, and as well as the content of your post, it's nice to see a post on here that is easy to read. Many posters here need to go back to school and learn some spelling, grammar and punctuation. Indeed, some posts are so bad that it isn't worth the effort to decipher them, so yours stands out from the crowd.

Not really, most people dislike him because his form has been less than ordinary (I am being kind).

I wouldn't call 200K p.a a bargain price?

And they were spot on. They knew he wasn't good enough anymore, yet that didn't stop Sheens…

This is incorrect. Anasta was signed by Sheens as our first choice #7, this was Sheens official line when the signing was announced. He was never signed as a depth player or an old head in the forwards signing. He was signed as a first choice halfback. It was an absurd signing.

This I will agree on. His defense has always been solid and his poor performances certainly aren't from a lack of trying. He puts in, but is simply nowhere near good enough. I don't hate him at all, but it was a ridiculous signing. The last mess than Sheens left us with.

Only 3 weeks. Hope he takes the time away from the game and decides to retire.

Austin here is your oportunity to continue to shine in your preferred position
