Andrew johns

Andrew Johns is a contractor who can work with you for however long you are willing to pay him.

He has worked with (off the top of my head):
Kieran Foran
Shaun Johnson
DCE
Jackson Hastings
Mitchell Pearce
Trent Hodkinson
Josh Reynolds

After his work, I've definitely seen improvements. Especially Foran/DCE when he was working at Manly. Those two were amazing.

I have said this multiple times… Bring Andrew Johns to the club.

He seems very interested in Broses and I think if we did offer him a role he would agree after his stint with the roosters this year... Look how good Hastings is playing and Pearce had a blinder last week and will continue this week.... And look how good Foran is going and Cherry was doing well while Johns was at the club....

He did say though he would play Moses at 7 as first reciever and wanted to see both Moses and Brooks on one side together instead of playing on seperate sides the whole game. JT is too blind not to realise that they're not gelling together.

I know people don't really like johns but he's analysis of the game as a halves perspective is top notch.

Bring Andrew to the Tigers ASAP

He won't come to the WT.

Why's that?

Coz he could go to a good club

Huh? We just want his expertise. If anything, there would be less reason for him to go and help a top team. It's not like we want him to play for us. He can't exactly win a premiership as a halves instructor….

Matthew did some work with Shaun Johnston & I cant recall him doing anything with the Bulldogs?

He has a had a some good results with Foran, but he has been at Manly up until last year and DCE has been going backwards at a rate of knots over the past 3 years.

He started at the Rooster in the off season, and it looks like Hastings has gone backwards?

I'd be wary of signing him, but I also feel some outside help may be good for Luke & Mitch.

pardon my bluntness, but didnt jason taylor play state of origin?

why cant he assist in the young guns development- he was an accomplished playmaker- isnt that what we want

Good idea. He was apparently an excellent assistant at the Roosters.

We just need to find a coach now.

X2 :roll

Justin Holbrook is the bloke we should be looking at for the halves…

Joey can stick to Airport Lounges...

Great players more often than not do not make great coaches. 2 of the best of this era, Bennett and Bellamy were average players. As was Trent Robinson and Brad Arthur. So assuming Johns would automatically be a messiah in the coaching ranks is not a sound assumption.

Yep, we should get JT to come to the club and teach them…..hang on????

Justin has a ton of experience and is known to be a very good communicator. He would definitely be good for our two halves.
As for your last sentence Geo, it made me

We had a good coach in Matty Head, he was going great with the young guys, he was also a very smart half, but he was let go, I don't know if JT was part of that but I think he might have been.

I agree we need a halves coach brought in if we have any hope of Broses becoming first grade halves… Anybody that holds any hope of JT teaching these 2 how to play an effective role as NRL halves will be waiting an eternity, JT was average at best and if not for his goal kicking abilities wouldn't have lasted as long as he did in first grade. Time for JT to swallow his pride and get someone in to work with these two.

Taylor was as slow as a wet week and had to rely on his kicking , that's true, but he was very smart with the way he played. He was a very good half especially as he had no speed,
He was, however , quick between the ears, and learned to play smart, something he seems to have lost completely

If our halves are not "quick between the ears" ( lack footy smarts )then no one will be able to improve them.
Not even the great Johns.

I'm not a JT lover or hater. He is our coach, simple.

However, for the life of me blaming him for Moses and Brooks poor form is way off. I am sure that JT and all the coaching staff must be giving them each advice on general play and last tackle options. My view is that they are either incapable to follow or choose to ignore any advice.

Together they are woeful. Each have performed well without the other though. They have played together throughout the juniors and upwards? Then I hear the commentators talk glowingly about how Hunt and Milford have formed such a great combination in how long? 5 minutes?

Yeah, yeah they are playing in a great team but their combination is extraordinary.

We have two halves who can't manage to light a candle together.

Before getting a halves coach maybe we should get a forwards coach.

I don't know of any halves that can play consistently good footy behind a consistently beaten forward pack.

Unless Joey Johns knows the secret to being a good half while always being on the backfoot, and having no go forward, then I wouldn't waste my money…

We should get JT to do some coaching at the club.

Matt Head told it as he saw it when commentating for the ABC. I recall he said last season that WTs had regressed from game one under JT. He told the truth and it must have hurt because he had been responsible for one SG Ball win and a semi finals appearance for Balmain. He should have been retained because he has an outstanding knowledge of football.

I maybe wrong but it looked like he was in the Saints coaching box against Canberra.

He probably was, after getting let go by us he headed back down to the gong, boy we should of got him as head coach, would have been even cheaper than Taylor, and way better 😢 .

The one that I would be looking for to help the kids is Matty Johns, he helped Cronk in his early years.
