I imagine I'm in the same boat as the rest of the wests supporters in feeling disgusted at the crap we keep being dished up week in and week out apart from a blue moon here and there our beloved wests tigers are hopeless and a huge disappointment again this year but fortunately like all of you I imagine, I'm used to it which is really sad. There are so many things that need to be fixed that I would not even begin to know where to start, but one thing that absolutly boggles my mind and is a clear example of what kind of club the tigers are is we have a former halfback who is pretending to be a coach who for whatever reason can't seem to coach our halves. Taylor's been here for nearly two years and neither brooks or Moses have any clue about adequately finishing a set of six. They have no idea about how to use the ball close to the opposition line to sustain pressure and they are totally inept at any form of game management.
Surely it should be time for the wannabe coach to suck up his pride and get Andrew johns in to take brooks and Moses and teach them the intricacies of playing in the halves. Johns has done wonders for Evans and foran as well as Reynalds and hodgkinson I'm sure there are others but honestly I don't blame the guys I blame the coach and I blame their manager who for whatever reason thought it would be a good idea to prolong their contract negotiations. For a veteran player it is okay cause they know how to handle themselves in the pressure better but there is no way I'll believe that it's not distracting them. Sorry for the long post but that's my daily rant have a great day all.

Agree completely, I've said here before that I thought Taylor would be great from the halves, but I couldn't have been more mistaken.
Purely from the halves point of view, if they really want to get anywhere near the top , they should both use their heads , not their wallets, and chuck their contracts in the bin and go somewhere where their games can be improved enough for the higher money,
Preferably , before they end up as the highest paid reserve graders in the game
They won't get any better here , they've both gone backwards under Taylor.

It won't happen here they've both gone backwards under Taylor.

I cant think of a single player who has improved under taylor. The entire roster has gone backwards imo

I have said this multiple times… Bring Andrew Johns to the club.

He seems very interested in Broses and I think if we did offer him a role he would agree after his stint with the roosters this year... Look how good Hastings is playing and Pearce had a blinder last week and will continue this week.... And look how good Foran is going and Cherry was doing well while Johns was at the club....

He did say though he would play Moses at 7 as first reciever and wanted to see both Moses and Brooks on one side together instead of playing on seperate sides the whole game. JT is too blind not to realise that they're not gelling together.

I know people don't really like johns but he's analysis of the game as a halves perspective is top notch.

Bring Andrew to the Tigers ASAP

I agree we need a halves coach brought in if we have any hope of Broses becoming first grade halves… Anybody that holds any hope of JT teaching these 2 how to play an effective role as NRL halves will be waiting an eternity, JT was average at best and if not for his goal kicking abilities wouldn't have lasted as long as he did in first grade. Time for JT to swallow his pride and get someone in to work with these two.

Joey bit his tongue yesterday when he was describing what Brooks was doing and what he had to do.
He praised Mosses a bit later saying at least he was trying
Even Freddie chimed in saying he was hearing less of Brooks as the game was getting tougher

Its sad… and these kids want to get $600k a season ??

I don't think I agree that johns is a good fit for the club. He should go help out Newcastle. Maybe we need a Scott Prince.

The club is in a horrible mess with Jason Taylor. It doesn't need a halves coach it needs a change of club coach as soon as possible. The longer the club stays with Taylor the deeper it keeps digging the rut it is in. A rookie first grade coach with good experience as assistant first grade coach would be the way to go.

Taylor was as slow as a wet week and had to rely on his kicking , that's true, but he was very smart with the way he played. He was a very good half especially as he had no speed,
He was, however , quick between the ears, and learned to play smart, something he seems to have lost completely

The only way Andrew Johns will make a difference is if he throws on the number 7 jersey.

We just don't have the cattle this year. Simple.

Brooks and Moses are good players but can't do much when we don't have the ball or good field position.

If our halves are not "quick between the ears" ( lack footy smarts )then no one will be able to improve them.
Not even the great Johns.

I think Andrew Johns would relish the opportunity to work with Broses, it's just a matter of the Tigers approaching him with a decent offer.

I never understand why some insist we can attract any coach we want when can can't attract quality players. If marquee players avoid us, why would the coaches be any different?

Has Andrew Johns had any real effect as a Halves Coach?

I've read a few stories about Matt, but I cant foresee any future Immortals running around built from the foundations of Andrew's coaching?

Given Andrew Johns is not an NRL coach but a "specialist coach" he is a gun for hire that has been involved with a number of clubs assisting various halves so it is more a matter of which clubs require and then can afford his services. Unless someone on the forum is aware that he has previously rejected an approach by the Tigers then I can see no reason as to why he would not act as a "halves consultant" if a decent offer was made to him (assuming the Tigers could afford him which is another matter). The consultancy role would not be a full-time position but more likely several sessions a week etc. Broses need guidance so why not approach one of the best half backs to have played the game. Attracting a marquee NRL coach or a marquee NRL player won't happen in the short term for the Tigers but getting Johns may be a distinct possibility.
