Andrew Vela in Top Squad

Look if Vela hadn't got injured at the start of last season , he possibly could of debuted this season he was looking that good

He deserves another chance to see what he can do against the big boys if he can regain his fitness and form

I don't like the sound of the top 25 or 33 . So you have Adam Blair playing like a busted and even if you wanted to drop him, he is included in the top 25, even if he plays for the mighty Jamberoo Superoos ?

So basically if he is signed by the tigers, him or anyone else who earns the most, is counted towards our 25 player squad, even if dropped to reggies or worse ? I guess Sandow is almost in this position ?

Better to have players earning big money in the top 25, just in case of another heavy injury toll. It means we have more to spend for players outside the top 33 from the second tier salary cap.

The salary cap for the top 25 players is currently $5.35 million and does not include private party payments which I am sure clubs like Roostera are taking full advantage of.

Thought it was 5.85 mil and 6.3 million next year?

I have just finished an NRL survey on the Salary Cap and they stated that the cap for the top 25 players was 5,35 million. No mention however of next season's salary cap.

What is the latest on this guy? I have not seen his name in injury or team lists. Anyone know what he is up to and when we might see him on the field?

Returning from injury this week with the Wests Magpies RMC team, hopefully get some fitness and stay injury free so he can return to the form he was in a couple of years ago

A strong running forward, Andrew Vela will be looking to make up for lost opportunity in the NYC after suffering a season ending shoulder injury early in 2012.

That's not very big?

He'll Liam wouldn't be too far behind his weight

Dodgey data is say. Saw him at last week game. A Huge human

Yeah those stats haven't changed for a couple of years. With all the time off he would have spent in the gym, he would have to be over 100kg by now.

I have just finished an NRL survey on the Salary Cap and they stated that the cap for the top 25 players was 5,35 million. No mention however of next season's salary cap.

The cap is $5.5m ($5.3m in basic payments to the top 25 plus the $200,000 Long Serving Player Allowance), on top of the cap there is the $600,000 Marquee Player Allowance (which is actually TPA provided by club sponsors) and a $100,000 Motor Vehicle Allowance (maximum 5 motor vehicles valued at $20,000 each), this effectively brings the value up to $6.2m if a club can use all the allowances that are available to them.

The total allowable for the NRL top 25, NYC and Second Tier is $6,971,500.

I got told that he is on a ridiculously large back ended contract, like he is one of the top 10 paid players in the club this year.

Thanks sheens, humphreys and McDonnell

Doubt it, but possible I guess.

He was a very highly regarded prospect, but has had a horrid run of injuries.

Many thought he was the best forward of his age group (comp wide) when he was about 18, Still might kick on.

Has Vela been playing at all this year? Haven't seen his name listed anywhere all season and wondering what has happened to him.

Reminds me of the Greg Waddell Situation at panthers. Highly rated juniour, tipped to be the next superstar and injuries just destroyed him. Would love to see Vela at least make an NRL debut at some stage in his career.
