It's pretty simple really, as long as the DT and oxygen thieves such as Rothfield continue to put the boot into Benji, then there's no real reason for him to speak to them. Treat people with respect and you get respect (in principle of course).

Just saw on the news that Benji was involved with a cancer benefit for kids tonight. Give him a kick up the backside for that Rothfield you grub. Crucify him for turning down an interview with a newspaper that has given him grief his entire career, but theres never any mention of the several hours the man devotes to charity and his own foundation.

I don't blame Benji in the least for this. He was dragged through the mud by the DT, and the rest of our club has been s*** on at different points too.

But as one of the most high profile players in the game, at some point Benji will have to grit his teeth and do the professional thing which is answer a few questions.

As awful at the DT are, they reach a hell of allot of people. After a while the club will only harm itself if we continue to ignore them. We will have to dance with the devil sooner or later.

In general I agree with the point you're making, but I'm prepared to make an exception for the Telegraph. I genuinely believe they wish nothing but ill for the game as a whole which completely negates the whole "promoting the code" aspect. If Gallop had a pair he'd act like Demetriou in the AFL and just tell the filth rag "my rules or you're out of the game". Typical NRL though, so short-termist they keep feeding their own cancer.

Obviously they are looking at space fillers in the off season but letting Rothfield carry on rubbishing Marshall or the Tigers ad infinitum is over the top.
