Another nail biter..

A positive is that in recent years, a game like this would have most probably got away from us. Credit to the playing group for holding firm. However, in the second half, it is true to say that we went back in our shell and really didn't show much entrepreneurship with the ball. The Dragons were always going to come out swinging in the second half, and almost delivered a knock out punch. To have 28 points scored against us by this St George team probably also doesn't make a strong case for our defence.
For mine, a glass half full, but given this is very much a work in progress, and all the other stuff that has been going on off the field, I can't ask for more than that.
There is room to do better, and Benji has admitted as much. The Storm game will show how much we've learned.

Another nail biter and a lot of work to be done.

But beyond the score, a couple of pleasing developments.

JL was a lot more involved which i greatly appreciated.

The swift and agile Bula response.

For his first real game back, Charlie stepped up with some keen polish.

All these items are probably helpful if we are resigned to losing Galvo.

Better to have talent spread across the team than a couple of heros.

Especially with the injury toll.

I think you can put the quality of our game against the Dragons down to fatigue. The first try for Saints was a poor read by Seyfarth and that happens, but run of tries in the second half, uncharacteristically (for this year), resulted from us not making the effort to get back in defence once a break was made. This is not the scramble we have been getting. There were a few other telling signs, the inability to set the line correctly for Lids burrow over, dropping off tackles etc. I think it started to show late in the first half. In the play when Sua dropped the ball over the line when we had no one coming back across in cover for that fast shift. It got progressively worse from there.

Could have been mental as much as physical but our guys were only jogging back to the line when breaks were made around and behind them. We have not seen this in recent times.

If we play to our potential we can beat the Storm, but it will be close no doubt. It is probably good to get that scrappy game agaisnt a big side out of the way. There will be plenty to look at on the video today and there will have to be a few guys putting their hand up to see that was me putting my body first before the team. That would eb enough to sting me back into action, so I suspect that we will see a bteer resolve in defence this week.

Can we just win a game comfortably for once without taking blood pressure medication

I say this to anyone that listens..
I had a glimmer of hope when we were up what 24-10 or whatever it was...
But I should have known... We are the tigers.

I still remember the game in 2015 against the raiders, we were up 22-0 and lost 30-24.

It's Tigers 101...
