What I don't get ....NRL gets all this info about players taking drugs .....why not organize ASADA to do a test ...catch them out ..and then throw the book at them

NRL have never taken drugs seriously. They would throw the book at a token player but turn a blind eye when a couple of glamour clubs were eating the stuff every weekend.
They were afraid of the adverse publicity of going after the big names and my guess nothing has changed

The NRL is a festering crap hole of an organisation, fluffed up by flashy ads and rubbish journalism that supposedly sells the game. Its getting harder and harder to remain interested in the sport.

ASADA can test for performance enhancers year round randomly. I think testing for recreational drugs is in house and the RLPA banned out of competition testing.

EDIT: ASADA can only test for Cocaine during competition.

I just googled this. ASADA is bound by the WADA code for prohibited substances. Cocaine is only prohibited *during competition* under the WADA code.

These young whippets, they gave it a good crack - but sounds like some of these guys are complete dopes.

The administration probably doesn't care enough to weed these guys out, which is a real downer. Seems like it's endemic, no way of just sprinkling some angel dust around and making it go away. They'll get a smack on the wrist and move on, not like it'll rock the game more broadly at all...
