Another Quick Forum Update

Hi everyone, another quick update from me.

As I said in my last update, following on the feedback received from a diverse range of stakeholders over the last 12 months, I've been conducting a systematic review of this forum and its context in the wider social media landscape. Suffice to say that things are constantly changing; when this site was setup twitter didn't exist and platforms like discord were a decade away.

It's fair to say that this place needs to respond both to the changing times as well as the nature of the discourse within online communities in an increasingly crowded landscape.

Work is going on in the background to take this place into the next decade and it's quite exciting to see what's happening. I'd also announce that the moderator team will be changing. While I can't announce the new mods just yet, I'd like to thank @willow, @cochise (and a couple of other mods who are no longer active members) for their service over the years. I think I speak for a great deal of you who have respected their valuable contribution as moderators and we look forward to them continuing to be an active part of the forum discussions for years to come.

As I mentioned above, I'm now looking to diversify the mod team, to put us in good stead for the coming years. If you'd like to be considered, please send an email to kul@weststigersforum.com along with a brief statement on why you should be considered and your own vision for the forum's future.

There are exciting times coming to Concord and I look forward to us all being able to share them here on our forum. Let's go on this journey together!

cheers,

kul

An explanation would be appreciated?

Interesting read on a Saturday night.

For me, being a part time forum poster but long time viewer, I haven’t seen what the problems were with the banning, or who has been banned.

I guess sometimes around here can be a lot of negativity, but people should be able to voice it and say some crap, but not continuously on repeat.

Everyone has bad days for sure, but it’s for a few days - after them days past, real men apologise, agree and move on - not hold anger about someone and post repeatedly about them, or trying to single them out.

Anyway, who really knows what drama is going on now, but my vote for mod would be @Lauren - great poster and also has a lot of passion.

I think someone with her temperament would make a good mod. The worst thing that could happen would be for someone who has an ax to grind to get the job.

Excited for the forum to come back to being a fun place where you can chat footy like you're talking to your mates at the pub!

god bless u cochise,thumbs up

If getting rid of Cochise and willow is the solution then you're asking the wrong questions.

Without knowing their personal circumstances, I believe if they were empowered to do the job effectively the forum would be a more pleasant place

@kul can you let us mods know who has been removed from the mod team and who hasn't. Bit rough if some of us have been shafted without any communication after continuously being mods since the forum was officially linked with the clubs website

May not have agreed with every view/ decision Willow or Cochise made but they are only human. It's extremely difficult to not have viewpoint bias when doing what they were.
I have purposely wound back my posting because this forum has degenerated into a whingefest over the last couple of years but it's not their fault.

If this means those who antagonize others for having an opinion that they don't agree with, label them as trolls or agenda driven while they continue to bore with their superior attitude, then for me the point has been missed about an inclusive forum. Thanks @willow and @cochise for your contribution.
