Tie up this bloke on an extended deal from now right up to his retirement. Maybe our most important player going forward. He seems to be enjoying the captaincy too. Absolutely drove the Riff crazy the other night. Almost felt sorry for the poor bloke Ivan threw in to take on the old fox!

We've had Matterson (2019) and Utoikamanu (2021) as 18th man for NSW.
Ofahengaue (2021) and Mbye (2019) for QLD.
But no NSW origin players since Woods and Tedesco in 2017.

I have to admit- I never really followed Api as a player at other clubs. I realised he was good, but I never paid attention.
He is better than I could have believed.
Yeah, he's skilful etc.
But his ability to bring others into the game is outstanding.
And he has definitely taken the role of captain on with authority.
Whatever it costs to keep him at #9 until Da Silva is ready- pay it.

Deserved selection if true. Cook is great, a really threatening runner, but he has nowhere near the organisational skills and guile of Api. Also, while it hurts us short term, it shows recruits that tigers isn't just a wasteland and you can play reps here.
Also allows me to go for NSW again, and confirms my longtime protest against NSW teams without tigers has finally payed off! Most see supporting Queensland against NSW as ultimate betrayal, but I can't back the eastern suburbs NSW roosters. And the recent Ivan Cleary stab ya in the back NSW Panthers were just as difficult to support, even though I like the Panthers players (especially yeo) individually.
