OFFICIAL Apisai Koroisau #263

Nobody seems to have mentioned it but...

With Luai out...

The Tigers squandered a strong position (scoreboard) to the Broncos for the period of time Api was off the field.

Until he came off- we were in front & in control. He comes off & re-enters the game- by then, the Broncos have blown us away.

Coincidental?
I think we must have both been yelling at the screen about why Api was off. It was torturous... Like give TDS that time every week no matter what.

True.

You know what sticks in my mind about the Reynolds chip & chase try?

The coverage defenders not racing back. It was ALL on Bula to fix.

You know who jogs into frame closest to Reynolds?

TDS.

Tell me Api would have done that.
Probably but how lucky was the bounce, wish it went anywhere but how it ended up, that stuff happens to us a lot over the years.

Obviously. And maybe Api makes bugger all difference.

But it seems coincidental that we lose the lead & get points packed on top, while our 2 best leaders are not on the field.

I think it gives more weight to the effect both Api & Luai have.

I do believe Turuva & Bird have similar, but lesser impacts.

Those who watch TDS closely see impeccable ball service but a real casualty in defensive contact.
Will take time but my best side has Latu on the bench instead of TDS until Api is unavailable due to whatever reason.

Funny, in the long view of it, all of the back 3 were back on the line ready for a bomb. I think that’s why it happened; too much space offered up in the backfield.

The best option could very well be Tristan Hope some weeks.

TDS is potentially a great player. But he still needs minutes. A couple of weeks with a full hit-out in KOE before coming back up won't be the worst thing. I don't want to chop & change too much, but I'm not convinced a season of being #14 develops TDS completely. He needs to be able to play 80 minutes. He needs to be exposed to that.

Latu is in that mix too. Unless we play him 80 minutes some weeks though- he will need to cycle back into KOE for a short time too, at some stages of the season.

Quite possible. But all the emphasis was on players coming forward. There were players that needed to track back to help too.

I think Sukkar was on the other side & equally as guilty as TDS.

Reynolds had said they did their homeowrk on Bula (reaully our defensive setup I suspect) and they knew thre would be space so he took a chance and got a great bounce. We need to adapt and adjust - I don't think anyone would miss it in the review.

In my view, Latu develops into that Dylan Walker player for us and stays in First Grade. Api should be able to play out 80 as the season goes on.

(Sorry, behind paywall)

The Cowboys have asked Wests Tigers if they could let Api go a season early to go to Townsville to replace Reece Robson.
Maybe they feel they can wedge management over Api/TDS thinking the WT aren't willing to lose TDS and would be prepared to sacrifice Api to keep TDS?

Bugger them, but maybe it could be the right call for WT?

Api Koroisau is still a top 3 hooker in the game why would you release him early?

Would you lose prefer to lose TDS to keep Api at the club for one extra season? I don't even know where I sit there. You're right, why give up a top tier hooker? But at the same time, do you risk losing TDS? It's a conundrum the club is almost certainly going to face.

He's a long way off being a high minute's player dazz, if he's impatient and won't bide his time well you know my answer.

TDS is still only 19… i’m sure he’s fine with being an understudy to one of the best 9s in the comp for 2 years

Yep. His minutes will increase and Api will decrease at some point. Depending on how Api is travelling, it would be great to have him retire with us.

When TDS overtakes Api, I see Api moving to 14 to get a few more years in. But we're a fair way off that yet.

its not a conundrum ,its a google question 4 the sake of it . Plan A when Api retires , TDS hopefully is capable of stepping in

The problem being there's a shortage of class hookers . Other clubs are eyeing the WT off as they have arguably one of, if not the best rake in the game and one of, if not the best young hooker in the game.
There's a few clubs ready to throw some serious money around to get their hands on one or the other.
