And our performance has improved incrementally since he arrived. If he is able to help get us back into the top eight he becomes one of the most important figures in the club’s history.

I think you couldnt be further from the truth...an employer that make an employees family feel welcome and valued is a wonderful thing...my old employer did this treating each employee as an individual and listening and going out of their way to help when ever they could.
theyd put on a family day once a year like barefoot bowls...jumping castles etc for the kids...some tried to take advantage but most appreciated it and respected it....made for a good positive culture in our workday which im sure is what we are pushing here too...dont see why some have an issue with it

I work closely with OH&S and the employee wellbeing and this is where a lot of research is going towards.

Big inclusive teams where the values are similar is what keeps employees happy.

The days of keeping your personal and professional life completely separate are behind us. That's not to say you mix it fully but making it a workplace where employees feel their family is welcome is good.

Lots of clubs already do this.

Manage his development and expectations well, and it'll be fine. It's happening. TDS was already in the top 30 and played NRL at the same stage Haywood is now. Haywood has spent the season in SG Ball and Flegg, only been on reserve grade game day lists as 18th man, and will be on the supplementary roster in 2026.

The problem with TDS (along with Galvin) was he became an NRL player before he really should have, and so his expectation was to play every week. The roster management looks a lot better now than it was under Sheens and McDonnell, and the young fellas are going into the supp list rather than top 30 as 19 yr olds.

I think the club has noted how rushing young players into NRL before they're ready has either stunted their development (Mason, Luke Laulilii, etc), or led to greater expectations the club wouldn't deliver (TDS, Galvin). Hopefully the club is patient with Makasini and allows him to gain confidence in reserve grade for the rest of this season.

Watching the latest Terrell video it was interesting to see the relative maturity and harmony of the squad. Voices like Turuva, Luai and Terrell really complement Api. Now imagine that without those guys around last year and substitute it w the voices of Galvin, Da Silva, Jordan Miller, Ice and Bateman. Night and day and without doubt TDS was enabled by the club as well as misled by his agent. Hope he enjoys getting ragged by Moses.

Interesting around the 21:30 minute mark, Terrell mentions how he heard you could do "whatever" and boys could get away with cutting corners at the Tigers prior to joining the club.

Think a lot of us felt that - and it explains why/how so many signings we have made in the past ended up failing badly.
