Are Fifita and Gibbs off to the Sharks?

You'd have to be nuts to take an offer to join the Sharks no matter how much coin they offer.

1) No certainties they will be around the NRL in a few years…even if they are most likely will be in Perth...
2) Going to such a weak club will do nothing to enhance your playing prospects and skills...Brilliant players like Marshall and Farah make everyone look good!..Look at G.I...he is a shadow of himself at Souffs!

I agree.
Cronulla is a grave yard, Tupou & Gallen are decent but as a team - terrible.
I don't see why ANY player would want to go there, unless it was the very last option available, like no other club will look at them so they get what they're given so to speak.
Some one like Andrew Fifita, a rising star, an up & comer…. CHOOSING to go there when he's still welcome and as it looks, in the Tigers future plans - would be a bad career move.
Fair enough, the price is right.... but there is more important things.
If he goes to the sharks, he will never win a premiership there!
I'll be very disappointed if he goes to the stupid sharks, worst team ever.

Its an interesting connundrum on comings and goings.

I rate Groat a better prospect that Fifita who seems to be maturing as a prop at a faster rate but who else the club brings in also plays a major part in whether a successful outcome is in the offing for this move.

Losing Gibbs and Payten in the same year would be a huge blow but considering how busted Bryce is playing (injuries) I could never begrudge him earning as much as possible elsewhere.

Hard to judge anything until we know who is coming in etc though

Groat and Begovich, not to mention Roqica - there is plenty of talent there looking for opportunities.

x 2
I was hoping to see WOODS & FIFITA start one day with GROAT & BEGOVICH on the bench.

no use being able to defend when you can only play 50-60% of the season

While I take your point T-Rexx there is a still a requirement for balance and we will need a defensive spine - unless we intend to buy this is in, who in the current roster can play that role?

ummmm Blair?
more chance of getting a full season out of him then Gibbs..
i like Gibbs and i dont really want to loose him,
as for Fifita, there are plenty of people in the team and coming through that can do his job as good and in some cases better.
Once again i dont want to see him go but we cant keep them all.. people need to take off the Tigers jersey for a second and look from an outside perspective.

WE have Depth,
WE have a player roster other teams would die for
We have a possible new signing who can add a WHOLE new dimension to the team.

Lets face it, even with the current crop incl Faf and Gibbs we are not getting the results we want..

So why do people get all upset when we want to change it?

We wont loose anything from them going (if they do)
But we WILL GAIN in a new forward with new playing style

Why is everyone bagging Cronulla "the graveyard"?

Aren't they buying all these new players to strengthen their club so they won't be a graveyard anymore? Clubs have their ups and downs and will be successful and unsuccessful. Maybe players want to go there for the big bucks and because they see potential.

Why go to the Titans? They are busted at the moment too. They are still attracting quality players.

If you are a struggling club then you have to pay overs to get quality or potentially quality players. They have a good coach and are making some good purchases. Our priority should be on strengthening what we already have and improving. Add Blair to the mix and I am positive about where we are going, even though I will be gutted if Fifita leaves.

Still have a decent squad of forwards next year

Galloway
Woods
Blair
Ellis
Hieghno

Schirnack
Groat
BMM
Begovich
Dwyer

So I think even if both go then we will be a very strong squad

x2 - Groat and BMM can play prop and so does Begovich I think

I must laugh at people calling certain players injury prone compared to others, injury - much like recruitment is hit & miss, can occcur any time - no player is immune, its an occupational hazard of the game

Schirnack is little more than a decent fill in, and Groat and Begovich have not played first grade (7 minutes does not count). I don't know how anyone can include them when saying we have a great pack next year. What if they don't step up in first grade?

…. i never really thought about it like that.

Although, Its a great squad until we get injuries... right now we have quality depth.

Fifita was extended for 2012 by our club…...i.e. he's under contract.......so, can anyone explain to me how he's "a done deal" to the Sharks?????

What am I missing here?

until injuries hit?

10 forwards aren't picked in first grade every week

8 or 9 are depending if you have a 4 forward bench…. have 3 or more injuries at a time (like we have had this year) and you are already digging.

Look at souths injury toll for example

The club is essentially allowing him to have a look around, and if he can get more money and wants to leave, they won't stop him. That's my take on it.

I wonder if that will be the official take on it.

I hate the way contracts are not worth peeing on these days, by players & clubs alike

The only commitment these days is from the fans, and without us there is no game. It stinks.

It is highly likely you will need to scratch another one of those names off your list.

Absolutely disgusted in you WestsTigers!! I hope your office was turned upside down today!! And sack your stupid accountant while you're there!! :rant

Who else is likely to be given a hessian bag? Surely McKinnon, Payten, Fifita and Gibbs would free up enough coin 😕

I really can't understand why the tigers would let fifita go, except purely out of compassion. He will be on minimal $ at the moment, so it's not to free up cap, plus, the option to 2012 is up to the club and it's locked in?

It doesn't make sence.

Anyway, we will find out in the coming days by the sounds of it.
