I am beginning to wonder. That was our most worrying performance of the season. The Chooks were there to get belted today and we somehow conspired to let them get up. A horrible loss coming into the bye week.
The amount of times Farah and Marshall were lobbing balls across the field hoping for something to happen was disturbing. On the same front a decent attacking kicking game and we would of comfortably got the points. The Chooks had to do a mountain of work yet we failed to straighten them up and test them up the middle with short inside balls or a ruck onslalught on a hot day.
Instead we hit our backrowers and centres standing still out wid, or Rob or Benji drifting aimlessley hoping to pick up a runner. This continued all afternoon and the end resultof these cross field playe was either a useless kick, handling error or simply running out of room and surrendering. The Chooks must of been laughing. You have to commit defenders to tackles, and they just had to stand off and watch us rift and drift anf drift at times. Todd Paytenwas the only one that looked dangerous because he ran straight with the ball in 2 hands.
It is the same problem as the previous 4 seasons. Benji and Rob are brilliant individuals players but when asked to control and organise a side we looked like a dogs breakfast. I put a huge amount of blame on the coach for his game plans and constant shuffling of positions. However players of their experience should be able to straighten up and stop going for the miricle option. We have a Cronk or even a Luke Walsh or Foran and i think we win easily today.
If the try lines were east-west today we would of run up a cricket score. Unfortunetly they are not and that was a sucidal loss at a bad time. No doubt another one of those games you look back at the end of the season and work out it costs you. If we don't make the finals in this 15 team comp we will be a laughing stock.
