And every year we fail to play finals.

Your basing that on two games this year against opposition that will be in the top 4
PLEASEEEEEEE

We’ve been getting slapped around like that since 2012,

You judge unity when a team is under pressure.

We have none.

We have a massive issue with this squad be it coach or whatever.

Something is not right.

Yes, it's called comradery, cohesion, knowing what the guy next to you is going to do before he does it and experience as a team that has played under adversity a number of times e.g. how to dig yourself out of a hole.

It needs time to put all that together for a team that has only played two NRL games together (one game for the spine).

Anyone who expects a new team to come out winning against two of the heavy favorites for 2021 - is being totally unrealistic.

Sorry didnt realise we had a new team.

Im very familiar with these players, i was thinking they had been around a while. . . . . . .

Well, we do have a new team - how many NRL games have they played together?

I'll tell you (whilst you're thinking up your next smart A. comment) .... TWO! and ONE NRL game for the spine.

the players are starting to make me not care anymore

Yes sadly it’s been coming for years. My care factor has been waning more and more with each season, we can only take so much non-success until all our enthusiasm is gone.

Sure I keep an eye on their matches and I’m still on here discussing things about them, but honestly it is just becoming a place to vent grievances about the club these days, as I am right now. I really don’t expect anything positive from Wests Tigers anymore. The off season is the most enjoyable part of our campaign, with new recruits and lots of expectation, but even then it only serves as precursor to the big let down once the season proper starts.

I just don't think the coach is the issue. Our team is not strong. I know the pre-season allows you to imagine how good it could be, but the reality is that we don't have good players.

The really good thing about the recruitment and what must be madge's approach is that we're signing promising players on reasonable contracts and building a team. That is our approach, and it makes sense because we can't get the superstar players, and even if we could I don't know that we have a good enough squad to make that be worthwhile anyway.

So, everyone's having a go, but what else can be done? The players he has bought have mostly shown promise, and those who aren't that good aren't on big or long term contracts. Again, that seems smart.

Today wasn't coaching, we have a weak squad going up against one of the heavyweights in the comp who are in brilliant form. Obviously they could have played better and they haven't started well but you all have to stop being so reactionary.

If I could get Bennett or Bellamy or Robinson I'd sack Madge, otherwise there's a bunch of good enough coaches out there who wouldn't make a bit of difference to this team.

Well Mate, I usually do not agree with most of your posts..... (I'm going to be dumped on from a great height - that's ok if it makes you posters feel better)

However apart from your last paragraph (don't think those three coaches you mentioned would make much difference, when you have some of the players they have had, it is easy to look like a superstar, don't think they would look like superstars with rosters and cap problems), you are pretty spot on.

Most of the posters on here (after round two after playing 2 of the best teams in the comp) have, or want to hit the panic button.

Most for various reasons, permanent negative Nellies, agenda driven, Madge haters, impatience, etc. etc. I think one of the biggest problems is starting a thread like this to begin with, ridiculous! If that is not on your wave length GNR - Tough.

If the Club follows most of the thoughts on this thread - it is no wonder they don't make the eight.

I have followed this club for 70 years - win lose or draw. No one ever said over all those years some of the comments that arise on here. You accept mediocrity, they gave up, the coach has lost the players ...yadda, yadda, yadda.

The majority always do the best they can, (But they are not always good enough) under the circumstances as far as I am concerned (with the exception of that little slimy scumbag that is) - If you can't see that it will take time....

Congratulations on 70 years support, that's incredible. I can't remember our previous feuds but glad we're in agreement here and not everyone is bagging the coach. I'd take the other coaches over Madge because they draw players, because they've had incredible success and because I'd be completely assured that there's no better alternative out there. I rate Madge but he hasn't been able to produce sustained success like the others (not saying he can't). So it's not necessarily that they'd do better, just that I'd have more confidence in them (and perhaps they'd draw better players to the club).

It’s not Brooks fault he keeps kicking it out, it’s because he isn’t playing for the coach lol. If he liked the coach he would be getting repeat sets right.

I watched again we were not as bad as we are carrying on.

- mbye wasn’t actually that bad @ 9 but would still rather not have him at 9 but can understand not putting Simpkin against the roosters
- AJ wasn’t that bad I’m
- Joey wasn’t that bad but lack of involvement and flat footed D not good enough
- yes brooks kicking game and few Defence reads were not good but showed glimpses and had a dig
- some of the forwards are coming along nicely talau coming into his own, the young parra forward Stefano puts a smile on your face
- garner and che had some good touches

Biggest concern is douei he looked void of any spark which I can’t put my finger down to but is the most concerning.

Not many 7 would do much with a 6 like that and a forward pack getting beaten

They are playing for the coach but the coach needs to find the right balance ASAP.

So Brooks extends his contract with a coach he doesn't like! Dumb as - or he backs himself to out last another one.

It can’t be measured but it’s bleeding obvious when it’s there and when it’s not.

I agree for the majority of the 1st half but the 2nd half was very ordinary

Sadly games go for 80 minutes

This is the only energy I'm going to waste on Brooks (for now), but his inability to complete simple tasks is on him, regardless of the reasons. Whether it's an issue with the coach or a lack of composure, it's still a self and (unfortunately, team) culture defining moment.

Yeah it's frustrating to watch Madge select players with poor attitudes but his faith in them only shows how unprofessional the players really are.
Last week was all about Joey v Ricky, then all week there was conversation around Joey's demeanour on social media. This guy is an experienced NRL player and club representative, yet he is setting the poorest examples on and off the field for us. It's a big problem when we have so much youth and are trying to get rid of a toxic culture.
The first two games were the complete opposite of what Madge has conveyed as his short-term hopes and vision for the club - building team culture, cohesion and unity. But sacking him due to low effort of players would be the most impractical solution ever.

Why is Pascoe being included in discussions of team effort?? I don't care for any overwrought behaviour (as I'm often in the same state) but that's just being silly now.

Good post Lauren

The old its the 5/8's fault the halfback played poorly.

Doueihi will be just fine. He will be a great 5/8.

My biggest issue is Joey Leilua. With a rookie winger next to him Leilua should have been leading the way with talk and reassurance. Far from it he left him posted. This is the reason he has to go. The player selected at left centre has to talk and provide reassurance to Kepaoa.

This is a fair assessment. Mbye stifles the attack a little at hooker but he is a quality utility player. We really needed Doueihi to step up but he was poor.
