I agree RR,however,its no good having a great pack if the spine and backs cant help to finish off their good work....you would be better off having a team of forwards...
A good pair of playmakers and a smart fullback can be just as devestating as a good forward pack...I do agree though that it can only happen if the forwards lay the platform for the win,thats why its a team game...

We've never had problem scoring points, so it's not worrying me like it is to others.
Defense right across the park is the issue, a big issue!
Our edges are vunerable.
We've recruited poorly, only Peach in the forwards who really is a half - ⅝.
So who's going to step up. Garner, Seyfarth, Lucy and so forth.
Our front row needs to shore up the middle. Zane has to produce, he owes us.
Can Joe resurrect the form that got him SOO gigs.
Soon find out.
New assistant coaches may squeeze a little more effort and structure out of our forwards.
In my opinion, we lack quality forwards and we need at least 2 more for next year possibly 3.
We'll never be a threat unless we have a roster like the Panthers or Roosters.
 
Defensive Issues
We were ranked 10th in 2021 for scoring 13 tries off ruck infringements conceded by the opposition.
A bigger issue however was that we were the worst team defending our line with 22 conceded tries after ruck infringements.
I'm hoping new assistant coaches and a change in the rules my improve that statistic.
We scored more points last year than in the previous 8 years.
However conceding 714 pts was our worst effort since 2001.
Why with a defensive attitude style coach like Madge were we so horrible.
Roster? Coach?
I'm leaning on a sub std roster.
Why? Because the team with the best roster will inevitably win more games than lose.
Last year we got off to one of the worst starts, not helped by a horrendous draw, winning only 1 from first 7 games.
Our forwards were mediocre in gaining metres and conceded far too much in 'D'.
The amount of tries we conceded were higher during the 62-80 minute period. Why?
Fitness? Concentration? Effort? Bad coaching?
It's going to be interesting to see if the tigers can limit opposition to 2 tries per game this year and if we can rectify last years issues.

I can agree with you that our defence was pretty ordinary in 2021, and needs improvement big time. We may be scoring but that is no reason not to improve attack. They need to improve in all areas, but if they can get a few more FDOs, that will help them defend better because when they have more possessions they do less tackling 🤣

My opinion was the 6 again rule exaggerated our inadequacies in skill, desire and fitness.

I concur. I've said similar.
No more mediocrity.
 
I would love to say yes….but the answer you seek is NO.
Unfortunately we are 2-3 top line players short and we have a coach that is behind the times.

I hear what you’re saying craigtob, I really do. But there’s something else which is more important to have which will give the team a winning edge. You know what it is.
 
Heart can take you a long way. If we can show some of that, you never know. We 3 very winnable games the first 3 rounds.
