Are we cursed?

I would be shocked to find any Wests Tigers supporter who doesn’t also support the Magpies. Our Reserve Grade team is an important stepping stone to the NRL.

Sadly your question is based on a false dichotomy. Any decision that is harmful to the Western Suburbs Magpies is automatically harmful to the Wests Tigers.
I think you'll find there are many WT supporters who don't support the Magpies.

Correct! one only needs to look at the Titans win in front of the 16,000 at LO. It was a sea of Balmain orange jerseys, hardly a handful of Black n Whites.
Look its fine to wear your old Balmain / Wests jerseys but we have to remember we represent both those proud old clubs as One , we can only keep saying get on board and support the Wests Tigers and i do believe we should play as many games in the Black jersey as we do the Orange

Is that something to be proud of?
For years I've read on here how Magpies dinosaurs are stuck in the past, yet here we are bragging about people wearing Balmain orange.
The truth has it's way of making itself known.

I really think that we tend to make a mountain out of a molehill on the forum in regards to Wests v Balmain. I have no doubts that there are Wests and Balmain supporters that would love to see the one or the other go it alone. So what - it isn't happening - we are Wests Tigers.

If someone wears a Wests or a Balmain jumper and it is causing someone else to feel animosity the issue is with them, not the guy or girl wearing the jumper. Wearing Black and White or Black and Gold should not be something anyone is ashamed and nor should it be an embarassment to anyone in a Wests Tigers Jumper. We are all supporters of the club.

So to your question: Is it something to be proud of? If we take a step back from it we would probably find that at Leichardt Oval there are a lot of locals in attendance and they still rock the old Phillips Jumper as part of their link to their historical roots. Probably more an indication of a local pride in a suburban ground that is still going around as opposed to anything sinister. I would expect that if we had a game at Lidcombe Oval there would be a sea of Black and White jumpers with Victa below the V. I would love to see that spirit - doesn't mean they aren't Wests Tigers supporters.

I imagine that there will be plenty of North Sydney Bears jumpers at North Sydney Oval when Perth play there. Does that make it wrong - or a nod back to their roots?

We are all Wests Tigers Supporters; the colour of your skin (jumper) is of no relevance unless you're racist.

I see it a bit differently.
When I go to a Magpies game at Lidcombe I'll wear my Magpies jersey.
When I watch the Wests Tigers play I'll wear Wests Tigers gear.
I don't know that people can continually preach unity and then wear gear that screams otherwise.

I have no problem with anyone wearing a Balmain or Magpie jersey to our FG games as long as they are supporting WT but if they chant for Balmain or Magpies that is a very different matter as they are not supporting our club.

I am the same; but that is a personal choice. I have a great mate who wears a White and Black Victa jumper to Wests Tigers games because he likes it and in his eyes it is a link back to his and the club's roots. He doesn't want to bring and end to the JV; he is simply supporting his club in a way that means something to him.

If it is seen as anything else it is because the lens being looked through is tainted. The conversations on this site alone demonstrate this - from both sides of the the camp. If wearing a Wests or Balmain jumper screams disunity that is an interpretation; it may be factual but most likely is not. Would I personally do it? No, but that is my choice. When I see someone in a Wests or Balmain Jumper I see a nod to the past - nothing more. When we're standing on the same hill supporting the same team that's good enough for me.

If you don't support the lower grades are you really a supporter of the club?
yes
you can support a team, you can support a player, you can support a coach. who cares how you support.
show up to games, read articles online, talk about them at the bar, watch the game on tv, whatever little thing you do supports the club

can't believe in 2025 we are still doing the whole "i'm a better supporter than you" crap.

You know that makes no sense at all right.
Not a better supporter than you, just a person who understands that the club is bigger than all the parts you listed.
So not a better supporter of the CLUB, just a supporter of the CLUB.
