If you were duped into renewing your membership under the premise of stability, growth and excitement then please email the club's membership team (membership@weststigers.com.au) explaining that you want an immediate full refund of your membership. Copy in info@holmanbarnesgroup.com.au too.

You renewed your membership in good faith, but due to a serious problem with the service that's been offered, you would have not bought the service had you known about this issue beforehand.

It's deceptive marketing, and the negligence from HBG to cannibalise our club and our season next year which is the product you paid for, it's classified by the ACCC as a major problem with a service.

You can also mention thelat you will consider contacting the Department of Fair Trading if no refund is forthcoming.

A reminder it's illegal for any business to claim that refunds/returns are not applicable to their business.

Also note, I'm not a lawyer, this is just my understanding of this part of business law.

Are you serious mate? I think your understanding of consumer Law is extremely flawed.

Ok fine, elaborate. Are you a lawyer?

Consumer law in Australia projects the consumer incredibly strongly. In a nutshell, the product which was bought has changed. Had customers known about these changes they likely wouldn't have made the purchase. Hence customers are entitled to a refund.

No, they stuffed up my “auto renewal “?
How the hell you stuff up something that is automatically processed by a computer to make your company money is just so Tigers.
So I am now not sure what to do? I am a long time member.

Not a lawyer mate? But when you buy a membership, you receive tickets and goods. What you don't purchase is a say in how the club is run, in this case, Wests Tigers, not the HBG. Good luck with your court case though.

Thank god I didn’t auto renew. Cancelled on the last day, just as the memberships were about to be processed.

Unfortunately I don’t think the club have failed in their obligations to purchased memberships. If you’re receiving a member pack and/or receiving access to games then that is the extent of their obligation I would think.

So long as they don’t forfeit any games next year or otherwise fail to provide you with your specified membership inclusions then they are providing the service as purchased.

Sucks though. I would hate to see my money going to those clowns (HBG) and would also be trying whatever I could to cancel the membership.

I’d approach it differently. As a family activity, rugby league is about togetherness, fun & loyalty. The actions from elements within Wests Tigers this week do not align with these values. I’d request a refund based on my disappointment that the club had not lived up to those values. We rise together.

I had accepted my fate having allowed it to auto renew in good faith with the Independent board members appointed and seeing their response to others. I may try for it now though given I have previous correspondence with them stating I would only renew once the review ( Independents) had been implemented in full. I also haven't redeemed anything.
I feel if they are going to pull this sort of crap then they should push back the rollover date.

I’ve emailed asking for my membership to be cancelled and refunded. I actually do think there is a fairly good argument that the state of the football club 8 days ago is fundamentally different to the one now, and as such the basis upon which the membership was sold has now changed.

Consumer law allows for refunds when the service hasn’t started, when the costs haven’t been incurred by the provider.

I don’t have a 2026 pack. I haven’t received tickets. The service I am paying for hasn’t happened.

100 of us together will easily get it done

I’m in the same boat. Auto renewal didn’t work.

Quite happy about it actually, I want no part of giving these clowns my money.

I understand why you’re thinking that way, but it’s my club and when the chips are down I member up.
But I am not sure at the moment and I’m coming up on tens years again.
They stuffed me around once before, some woman was a smartass on the phone and I didn’t renew for a few years. I was coming up on ten years that time too.
I don’t know why I care, it’s not like they’re going to send out champagne and reefer in celebration of my ten year dedication.
I’ll wait a little longer and see what pans out first I guess.
This sux I just wanna be a member of my club the Wests Tigers.
