Ashes 2009

Just imagine what it will be like if we do pull this out of the hat.

England will be shattered and we will be on a massive high.

Adelaide 2006 maybe??

Still alot of work to do, gotta get through this new ball and then get to lunch.

If we get within a 100 with these 2 still there, then there will be some nerves!

Absolutely. England definitely have the upper hand still, but if Clarke and Haddin put on another 80-100 together and our tail wags…well it could well go down as one of the greatest wins of all time given the way we batted in the first innings.

I have very fond memories of Gilchrist and Langer saving a test by scoring 238 in the 4th innings against Pakistan in Hobart, 1999\. We were 5/126 chasing 369\. I kept saying during the day "We can still win this if XXX is still in". Then XXX gets out and I changed it to YYY. Those two put on 238.

I think Clarke and Haddin will need to do even better in this test. I think they'll need to add another 120-150 for us to be considered favourites. That would push their partnership up to over 300\. The best Australian partnership in the 4th innings is 301 by Bradman and Morris. That was the highest winning run chase for Australia ever, 3/404.

Just goes to show what sorts of records we will need to break to win this game!

Have we done something to South Africans generally? That umpire in the Test is crucifying us, and the creature who reffed the Rugby Test on Saturday obviously didn't like anything in Green and Gold. I know it sounds like whinging, but it is getting a bit hot!
On another matter that is perhaps even ruining our Test performance, what kind of an idiot is Mitchell Johnston's mother? Her rabbitting on to the Newspapers and that low life TV show must surely be upsetting him, he couldn't lose form that quickly! May I wish her bad luck with the 'blood money' that she received and suggest cancelling her Australian Citizenship?

Will this be the world record run chase when we get it…..Michael Clarke is the key.....

Noooo Haddin is out!!!

I was just gonna say how nervous i was.

Well maybe they'll ease now because its goin to be VERY tough now!

LEt me guess, went for a ridiculous attacking shot and got caught?

Nope, good ball by Flintoff just outside off stump, Haddin defended it off the backfoot, and it just carried to 2nd slip.

406 is a pretty good effort in the last innings. Nothing to sneeze about. Unfortunately Haddin and Clarke couldn't go on. Those 3 dodgey calls hurt us real bad in the end not allowing a good start which was a must.

We now have to win at least 1 of the last 3\. Some tough calls need to be made. Hopefully Johnson sorts himself out becuase he can't be picked in his current form.

Yep, you would think if those dodgy calls didnt happen, then they wouldve made those extra runs.
England played well but theyre beatable, just think what wouldve happened if:

- We didnt drop Strauss 3 times
- We mopped up their last pair rather then let em add 50 odd
- We didnt throw our 1st innings wickets away by playing pull shots
- We didnt receive those dodgy umpire calls

When I think about it, we really lost the game in the first 2 sessions, just the ease at which they got those runs set the game up for them, and even though we fought back well, maybe it wasnt a 425 run pitch in the first innings. Maybe it was more like a 320 pitch instead.

England can't play much better and we can't play much worse. That sums it up for me. They rely heaps on Strauss and Cook to get a good start with an out of from Pierterson, unreliable Bopara and Prior at 6 with Flintoof at 7\. If the Aussie bowling get its act together, good things will happen. Batting is no problem apart from that horrendous 1st innings at Lords.

It opens it up for a great finish to the series. Will be interesting to see what changes are made, if any for the next test.
